Description

“Much more spacious than expected!” guests say. Modern loft, high-quality furnishings, real wood floor with underfloor heating. 3 large, light-flooded rooms, stylishly furnished on spacious 73 sqm, 8 min walk to the train station and 12 min to the city center. Life in the industrial loft! Exceptional location in the middle of the "graphic quarter", the former publishing and printing district of Leipzig. The former printing house has been lovingly redesigned by us. Special flair of the historic building. The space The historic structure gives this fully renovated loft its special flair. Ceiling height of 3.5 m, everything lovingly renovated. Huge shower and light-flooded rooms. Daylight falls into the bathroom and hallway via a skylight to the bedroom. In the bedroom, the historic cape ceiling impresses and the bed is 1.60 m wide. The kitchen is fully equipped. It is perfect for planning the day in Leipzig at the large dining table with a fresh coffee or tea. The large living room has two huge windows for a lot of light and offers two extra sleeping places (1.6m x 2.0m) on the cozy sofa if needed. Guest access The whole apartment is at the guests' disposal. Other things to note Leipzig accommodation tax As is unfortunately the case in many German cities, a tourism tax, here called a "guest tax," was introduced in Leipzig in 2019. However, since the city of Leipzig was unable to present a convincing calculation for the collection of this guest tax, the Higher Administrative Court of Bautzen ruled in favor of the Berlin hotel group A&O in the context of a legal challenge to the constitutionality of a law in early 2022 and cancelled the guest tax. From April 1, 2023, however, the city will launch a new attempt to ask tourists and travelers to pay for overnight stays in Leipzig. From then on under the name "Leipzig accommodation tax". We are absolutely not amused! This is how the accommodation tax is calculated: 5% of the overnight price per person (without meals) will be charged as an additional accommodation tax. Whether tourists or business travelers. Exempt from the Leipzig accommodation tax: – Children and adolescents up to the age of 18 - Severely disabled + their companions Such an accommodation tax is of course simply annoying, even for us as a hostel, because we are obliged to collect this tourism tax from our guests and pass it on to the city. We were against this overnight stay tax from the beginning, as it simply means significantly more bureaucratic + unpaid effort for accommodation establishments, complicates the daily routine and also simply represents higher costs for all parties involved. We can only hope that these funds will be sensibly invested in the tourist infrastructure of the city of Leipzig and, above all, that guests of the city will benefit from it. Accommodation tax statutes of the city of Leipzig can be found on the website of the city of Leipzig - buergerservice-und-verwaltung/aemter-und-behoerdengaenge/behoerden-und-dienstleistungen/dienstleistung/beherbergungssteuer Example: A 2-bed room during the trade fair season costs, for example, 120.00 EUR/night, i.e. 60.00 EUR per person. Here, 3.00 EUR/night accommodation tax would be charged per person in addition to the overnight price if none of the reasons for exemption exist. A total of 126.00 EUR/night.
