Description

Enjoy your stay in your very own time capsule. Experience this cosy stone house in the most famous village of the wine making area called Omodos. Extra care has been given to keep the house as close to traditional as possible without compromising on amenities. Guest enjoy free wifi, Netflix and many more surprises provided by the host. The space Located on “Epitaphios” (=funerary, happening on a grave) street, the house is a two-storied edifice that belonged to the same family for more than two centuries. It consists of a main entrance that opens on “Epitaphios” street and leads into the courtyard of the building. On the ground level of the house you can find the tasteful living room, the kitchen area and the bathroom. The area that is today the kitchen, used to house the stables and the distillery. Against the wall of opposite the door, you can still see three “pitharia”, the huge earthen jars that were used to store wine. Notice just below their rims that they bare the date of their fabrication. Next to them, you can see the impressive copper cauldron that was used for the distillation of “zivania” (alcoholic drink produced after the distillation of the pips and skins of grapes). The kitchen is well-equipped and can meet the demands of the modern visitor. Most of the furniture in the house are original and are part of our inheritance. The beautifully carved wooden couch dressed in deep red velvet, the elegant furniture with the mirror, the wooden kneading trough that was turned into a functional coffee table were found in the house and were lovingly restored to their former glory. Two large wooden cupboards against the western wall of the kitchen are decorated with household items that belonged to Giagia (grandmother) Kassandra. On the first floor you will find the living quarters of the house – 2 double rooms and one single room – the toilet and shower and the highlight of the house, which is none other than the closed veranda that allows sunlight to turn it into a beautiful and cozy area. The closed veranda opens on the balcony that offers uninterrupted views over the mountain of “Afamis” and is ideal for spending long and relaxing afternoons reading or surfing on the internet. If you are a couch potato then you will surely appreciate the lovingly restored sofa that was used as a quick napping spot by the children of the house. The beds of the rooms are also original and were painstakingly brought back to life. Registration Details AEMAK - LEM 0003469
