You will love staying in our Country Manor House. With it's beautiful furnishings and artwork you will find yourself completely at home here. Whether you grab a book to read in front of the fireplace or take a little stroll in the surrounding woods, we're sure you won't find a more peaceful place to spend your time. Located just outside the small riverboat town of Spring Bay and just over 10 minutes from Peoria. Once home to many riverboat captains and situated along the mighty Illinois River. Abundance of wildlife is nearby so always keep a lookout to help us protect our deer population. This is a residential neighborhood so please respect the neighbors privacy. Please help yourself to the eat in kitchen and anything that is in the fridge or cupboards. Browse the library room for interesting books and magazines. The Fireside Room is very bright during the day and is always available to cozy up next to the fireplace in the evenings. One of the family members will be making sure your stay is comfortable, keeping the house stocked, clean and cozy. The Manor House sits on a stately hill with 12 other homes, most built in the 40's and all in the Traditional Style. At one time there were at least 4 prominent families residing on the 'HILL' mostly prominent Peoria businessmen of the time, building there private residences hidden from town. Located just a little more than 10 minutes outside Peoria, your car will be your best friend in getting around. There are many walking and cycling trails near or next to the Illinois River. There are plenty of boating opportunities on the river throughout the summer and several marinas that offer public boat ramps. The main bedrooms are located on the second floor accessible only by stairs. If you have trouble navigating stairs there is a Main Floor Bedroom with an attached Full Bathroom. The house has been updated for bed sizes. Downstairs is a king size bed in the bedroom and a queen size sleeper at the back of the dining area. Upstairs is a bedroom with a king a bedroom with a queen a bedroom with 2 full size beds and a small bedroom with a pair of bunk beds (You have to walk through the bunk bed room to get to the 2 double bed room) that are pretty comfy actually. So that makes 5 bedrooms and a Luxury sleeper downstairs HOUSE MANUAL Welcome to The Manor House It is our pleasure to have you stay at our family home. We don't get to spend as much time here as we'd like but we do love sharing our charming house with guests from around the world. Internet Password: Will be in the welcome text message with your own unique door code. TV: Most Tv's in the house are smart tv's. THE PROPERTY: The house is situated on roughly 2 acres. The little cottage and lower garage are part of the property but are only used to store items for maintaining the house and grounds. GARAGE: The 3 car garage is available to guests should you want to keep your cars inside. GRILL: Feel free to use the gas grill on the deck. Utensils should be right inside the door nearest the grille. If needed, we keep an extra LP tank in the little lean to shed on the backside of the garage. FIREPIT: The little fire pit in the front yard might require a little scout experience to get lit. Usually there is firewood in several places around the yard so please feel free to start yourselves a little campfire. There are marshmallow and hot dog stick hanging up right inside the door into the garage. Please make sure the fire is out before retiring or leaving the house. OUTDOOR FURNITURE: There are cushions to most of the outdoor furniture. We like to keep them clean and dry. Please return the cushions to the bench that is under the front porch. THERMOSTAT: The heat and a/c are controlled by the Smart Thermostat located near the entrance to the lower bedroom.. Please adjust it to your liking. FIREPLACE: VERY IMPORTANT! The chimney flue HAS to be open before lighting fireplace. Just inside the glass fireplace doors is a lever with a circle handle. The lever must be pushed to the right side (open) before lighting the fireplace. To light the fireplace adjust the knob located at the lower right corner of the fire log set. Turning the knob counterclockwise will increase the flame. When no longer using the room please TURN THE GAS OFF. GENERATOR: There is a whole house generator that will start up seconds after a power failure. If you hear an engine running behind the house, chances are there was a power failure. As soon as the power is restored the generator will shut off automatically. GARBAGE: Except in snowy conditions, there is usually a trash container on the driveway at the edge of the road. Please deposit your garbage there. The pickup is very early Thursday morning. CHECKOUT: Please be sure to check the house for belongings that may have slipped under a chair or bed. You can leave the bed linens in place but kindly pile all the used towels in the laundry room. It would be helpful if you would run the dishwasher so the house cleaner can put the clean dishes away when she comes. If you have opened windows, please shut and lock them before leaving.
