Traditional Cambodian Sok Phen Homestay

Sok Phen Homestay is a magnificent example of a traditional Khmer house and is situated perfectly between the town centre of Siem Reap (10 minutes by tuk tuk) where you can find an abundance of markets, bars and restaurants, and the temples of Angkor (3 minutes by tuk tuk). Staying here you will be submerged in the friendly culture of the locals in the village and be treated to many memorable experiences by the host family. You also have a dedicated tuk tuk for the whole stay. The space The main bungalow is an historic structure built by the Khmer Rouge in 1977 as a meeting and sleeping place for Khmer Rouge leaders. It was part of a group of similar houses but now it is the last remaining. We have now built an additional new house in the same traditional style which also has a balcony and bathroom joined to the main room. You can choose which house you prefer (subject to availability). Your space is on its very own private plot in a large raised traditional bungalow and is surrounded by fruit trees, a vegetable garden and friendly chickens. You have private bathroom with an open plan shower and running water. Both bungalows are built in traditional style and are fully open plan (50 sq metres per floor) with 3 comfy double beds. There are mosquito nets, fans, European 2-pin plugs and all mod cons to make your stay comfortable. You will be the only tourists in a friendly and welcoming village were you can enjoy BBQ and drinks with the neighbors and your host. If you want to experience pure and real Cambodian life, this is one of the most incredible places to stay. Guest access Mr Phen will pick you up free of charge from the airport or bus station and give you keys to the property on check in. Mr Phen, his wife Pon and their 2 beautiful children are both on the neighbouring plot so if you need anything they are always free to help. A free Cambodian breakfast and unlimited bottled water is provided. There is also your own private tuk tuk service available for your entire stay. Anywhere you want to go is no problem: see and meet buddhist monks, temples, schools, markets, you can go and do whatever you like. The main bungalow is on a large plot of land which is all for the exclusive use of guests. Other things to note We also have available Buddhist Meditation Classes with the monk at the local temple or in-house. These classes can be tailored to your needs - from 2 hours to all day. There is a Wood Carving School for children in the village which can be attended by guests.
