ABOUT: Vaikuntha consists of 3 villas which are truly unique perched on top of the cliff along Telaga Waja River, in Muncan village, Bali. Our residence, re-built 150 years old Indonesian traditional house is on two floors, comprises a huge open-air living & dining space; 2 master bedrooms; a big open-air well-equipped kitchen. This large, spacious, 140 sqm. (approx. 1,500 sq. ft.) all teak wood house with two story roof line provides plenty of rooms with natural air circulation while maintaining intimacy and privacy, with all living spaces, bedrooms and bathroom oriented to the panorama. LUXURY DISCLAIMER: Please note that although our home is absolutely beautiful and super cozy, it is not a typical 'luxury villa' where everything works perfectly all the time. Also, as you can see in the pictures, the villa is very open to elements, and some of you may not find it ideal. We and our staff will do our best to take care of any issues as quickly as possible. If you were highly sensitive to wild creatures, we would not recommend to stay here. LOCATION : Vaikuntha is located in Muncan, a small village in East Bali which is about a 90-minute drive from Bali Airport and a 45-minute drive from Ubud. Muncan is not yet a recognized touristic destination unlike Ubud, but this beautiful small village, which is sometimes called "Next Ubud" will guide you to the taste of old good Bali which cannot be seen in developed touristic places. It's just 5 minute drive to well-know Sidemen village. MEALS: If you needed a vegan foods, halal, or had allergy against any specific ingredients, please let us know upon booking because we can manage to respond to each customer's request. Western Breakfast per person is included in the price, up to max 4 pax. The owner of Vailuntha opened a Western restaurant 5 min walk from the villa in Feb.2022, so you can chose to have breakfast either at the restaurant or in the villa. If you would like to book a romantic dinner, the restaurant will serve you upon reservation. Please contact our staff for details. SWING: The swing is to be shared by the 3 villas commonly. We built the swing paying utmost attention to safety under supervision of a professional contractor, but we request guests use it at their own risk. The villa management cannot take responsibility for any accident or damage caused by usage of the swing. SIGHTSEEING AROUND: Besides the incredible riverfront scenery and the indigenous culture, Muncan is also surrounded by a lot of famous tourist destinations. Some of them include; Lempuyang Temple (The Gateway to Heaven), Besakih (The Mother Temple of Bali), Tirta Gangga Royal Water Palace, Telaga Waja River for Rafting, Amed Diving Spot, and Bias Putih the Virgin Beach. INTERNET: -We offer pocket WIFI to our guests. Due to our location, the Internet is not the fastest and there may be occasions where it’s not working. Please keep this in mind. The speed of internet is out of our control, so please do not claim us about it in your review (please!) -When it comes to infrastructure of internet, Bali's Telecom still need to improve a lot. Wifi sometimes does not work at all for a long time, but it is out of our control. We would appreciate your understanding. AIR CONDITIONER: Vaikuntha is not equipped with air conditioners, but no worries at all. You will never need aircons in this villa situated in the high mountain area where you would rather want sweater or fleece jacket in the night. The home is architecturally designed to take advantage of the natural breezes that blow through the Mr.Agung to the Ocean. The average temperature year around at night in the terraces is around 21-22 degrees celsius and thus very comfortable to sleep. PRIVACY: You have access to the entire house and it's all yours, so make yourself comfortable and enjoy privacy. Please note that however the swing is commonly shared by the 3 houses and the other guest could see you riding on the swing. Cleaners will visit the house between 10am - 12pm, but they will refrain from stepping into the house if guests do not want to. Please talk with our caretaker in advance. POOL: The infinity jungle pool is located in the realm of "Biji Valley" that is our sister restaurant, 5 min of flat walk from us. Our guests can use the pool for free at their own risk from 8am - 5pm. SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS AROUND: Our sister Western restaurant is in walking distance (5 min), while there is one local shop where you could buy snack and cold beverages in 5 min walking distance, but no ATMs or grocery shops in walking distance. ADDITIONAL SERVICES: We will do our best to make your stay easy and memorable. INSECTS & BUGS (PLEASE READ): The house is designed very openly and thus bugs, insects and frogs, geckos are common. Our beds have mosquito nets, but if you get scared of insects or bugs, this is not the right place for you and we recommend you to find somewhere else (concrete wall types of hotels) instead. We are after all in the middle of nature and that's what people love about our villa. MOSQUITO NET FOR THE BED : Please use the mosquito net in a proper manner. You need to keep the net completely shut down from outside in order to prevent any inspects coming in. Otherwise you might let them enter into your space and your sleep might be hindered. Please understand it's guest's responsibility to use the net in a right way, and we cannot take responsibility for any trouble coming from improper usage of the net. TOWELS & LINEN: In the rainy season the towels and linen at times get damp and may start to smell. If you need replacements at any time during your stay, simply let the team know and they will supply you with fresh ones. HANGING NET : Please use the indoor hanging net at your own risk. The total weight on the net should never exceed 150kg and its usage is limited to 1 person max. Never stand or jump on the net. For safety reasons, we always recommend to use hand and legs together when going over the net. Never sit on the rims of the net, for the risk of falling down. Please note that Vaikuntha is not legally liable for injuries or damages sustained when using the nets, therefore please use them at your own risk only. TRANSPORTATION: We do not have our own drivers nor transportation service but we can introduce you a local driver from/to the airport. Please understand that we are not responsible for any car accident because the transportation does not belong to our service. ORIGIN OF OUR NAME: Vaikuntha is the celestial home of the Hindu god, Vishnu. In their traditions, Vaikuntha is said to be located in the direction of the Capricorn constellation. Vaikuntha is sometimes translated as “the place of non-hindrance” and may also be known as Vishnupada, meaning "Supreme Abode.” Located at the foot of the holy mountain of Balinese Hindu, we would like to provide our guests with “supreme abode.” The whole space is for you. Please do not expect urban & modern convenience. It's an open living design where you will encounter natural beings. If you pursue modern cleanliness with bug-free place, this villa would not be for you. You will see true natural beauties instead though.
