The Shelter - The Happy Home Stay

It's the best time of the year to experience staying atop a small hill in the stone house with green surroundings blessed with fruits, veges, purest water from the well, sounds of birds, insects, walkways & cycling paths, living close to nature & not too far from the city known for the number of good restaurants, shops, theatres, churches, temples, Ayurveda centres, Naturopathy proximity to the backwaters & boating plus some of the hill stations that can be covered in a day's trip & back. The space If you are a nature lover & like to be wrapped in it's beauty & warmth when on your well-deserved break, this is where you oughta be! An affordable stay atop a small hill in Kottayam, hardly half an hour drive from ours to Kumarakom (one of the nearest holiday spots). You would love to relax in the cozy corner of this family home, a private space you'd enjoy whether it is just for a few days or long term. This is an AC room that opens out to a beautiful green patch. It has the space to add an extra bed. This room has an attached bathroom with a tub. The sunset can be witnessed in it's fullest beauty from our decks. Then, there are peaceful walkways, you could also consider cycling. Being pretty close to the backwaters, we can arrange a private boat ride too if you so like it. Guest access Our guests have a separate entry to each of the rooms that they have booked. All the rooms are on another level of the stone house as per the natural landscape of the land. On this level, there are 3 bath-attached bedrooms for 1 to 2 people in each room of which 2 rooms have air-condition. One of the bigger rooms with AC have an extra bed therein for a child at an extra charge of Rs. 500/- per night. There is a family/ common room with a TV that our guests may use during their stay. On the same level, is also an extra room with 2 beds that can accommodate 2 extra people at an extra charge as is applicable. We also have a small kitchen with basic essentials & a washing machine that may be used at an extra charge. Both Jacob & myself live in this stone house on one level & that only helps us to ease your stay & not interfere in your space or privacy. As much as we respect & honor your privacy during your stay at The Shelter, we'd appreciate the same on the level that we live in as well & that would add to total peace & satisfaction of your stay as our guest/s & ours as your host/s :) You are free to walk around & explore into our backyard where we grow our own fruit trees & vegetables and you can see our bee boxes too around The Shelter. Jacob would be the happiest to tour you around these, explaining in detail or as you need to know. During your stay We live here and are available for our guests. We are happy to spend time with you as per your intetests, be it to simply sit down for a chat or wander around the property, seeing and learning about our bee farming or organic farming or just whatever you may want to know from what we know. If you prefer to have a very private stay, we will respect that. It is your holiday and you plan as to how you'd like to spend your time here. We also have our own chickens who lay eggs. Therefore, enabling us to serve our guests with healthy farm fresh, free range, country eggs. While breakfast is included in the tariff, lunch and dinner can be served on prior request for an additional charge. All things here, pure and natural. In addition to all of the above mentioned, to those who'd like, we also arrange for Ayurveda massages as per the guidance of our expert Ayurveda Doctor. Ideal home for long term stay such as Wedding groups prior to the event/s, to hold events/ parties as well as for those who come for long-term medical treatments.
