The space Located in Mapgaon in Alibaug, this gorgeous two-level home, sprawled across more than ¾ of an acre and veiled behind lush tropical plants and trees, imbues a tropical feel with its rich, earthy interiors. On entering the gates, a stone-marked track to the left leads past a shrine to a sit-out sheltered by plants. A designated parking spot is conveniently located a little ahead of the entrance, to the right. Leading to the villa is a tiled cream-toned path, gently snaking its way through a blanket of grass and trees. On reaching the villa and ascending the steps, the portico’s spaciousness is an opportune setting for reading outdoors or taking a catnap on languid afternoons. Large, wood-framed hinged doors add to the illusion of space, marking the interiors rather than separating them from the outdoors. A high-gabled ceiling further accentuates the sense of space. The living area has a daybed, sofas and a centre table, and features side-tables with showpieces. The dining area lies in an adjacent room, and has a ten-seater dining table and storage compartments, with a storage area and a fully furbished kitchen occupying the rooms next to it. A hinged door opens to the verandah. The house has five airy and capacious bedrooms, each with earth-toned tiles and tables by the bed. Two are on the ground floor and three are located on the upper level. Next to the master bedroom on the upper level is a study room. Walking across the corridor, two more bedrooms are located. The bathrooms have a shower area and are themed to evoke a warm, comfortable feel. While the interiors are beautifully designed, the outdoors are perhaps still more enticing, with large, open areas of greenery and canopies of trees breaking the sunlight. The design integrates the outdoors with a large pool surrounded by a rim of trees and plants around the premises. Playful props chiselled out of organic materials enhance the landscaping. Walking from the pool, there are separate staff quarters and a changing area to the left. A quaint gazebo by the pool makes for a great setting for poolside parties and outdoor picnics. The lawns and vegetation are maintained by sprinklers set to water the plants at regular intervals. A well provides an alternative source of waterfor the plants. Every bit of the property is developed, and is secured by CCTV cameras. Owing both to its proximity to the city of Mumbai and to its unquestionable charm, this villa is an ideal retreat for weekends and short vacations. Guest access The Villa is taken care of by a husband and wife caretaker duo who live in the outhouse on the side of the property. They will be responsible for the basic cleaning services and turn down services. Please note that no kitchen access is given to guests. We have set menus - vegetarian, non vegetarian and Jain at a very nominal cost.
