Chris's Homestay is in a charming village-style house, in the Dalupotha area of Negombo, 10 minutes by tuktuk to Negombo Beachside or Negombo town. Bedroom 2 is in the annexe, across the verandah, separate and independent from the main house. It's a cool room shaded by the Rose Apple tree in the garden. Bedroom 2 is larger than Bedroom 1, and there is a standard double bed with a mosquito net, a clothes hanging cupboard and a table and chair. The attached private washroom has a shower, basin and toilet. There is a floor stand fan, and there is also A/C, for which there will be a supplementary charge of Rupees 800 per night ( $3 GBP 2.50 ) This is because electricity is expensive in Sri Lank, and use of A/C substantially increases our electricity costs. The room is cool, shaded by the Rose Apple tree in the garden. Most of the time the fan is enough. It rarely gets so hot that you need A/C. But if you would like to use the A/C please ask for the A/C remote control. You are most welcome. The supplementary charge will be Rs 800 per night. Bedroom 3 is a single bedded annexe room independent of the main house, and is being offered at a special bargain price of 2 nights for the price of one, effectively $7.50 Guests are free to access all part of the house. The sitting room seating area features a wide screen TV with many English Language channels. And there is a round dining table for guests' use. Guests can order breakfast or dinner cooked by specialist Sri Lankan cook/houseman aminda. Additional seating on the shady verandah, cooled by the coastal breezes Houseman Chaminda, and English host Christopher, with 15 years Sri Lankan experience, are always available and happy to help and advise guests. In our neighbourhood, the Dalupotha area of Negombo, the people are warm and welcoming, with a ready shy smile for visitors. There are several local shops; one very small, at the end of our road. Within a short walk to the end of the street are two more shops, open late, one medium size and one large, where you can buy just about anything you need. In Negombo Town there is the large supermarket Arpico and the Cargills supermarket. AIRPORT PICK UP - DROP OFF We will be very happy to pick you up at the airport in our tuktuk, and we will be pleased to drop you off at the airport at the end of your stay. Airport Pick Up / Drop Off is Rupees 1000. If you would like us to pick you up at the airport, please confirm your flight details when you make your booking. GETTING AROUND IN NEGOMBO We are a short tuktuk 5 minute ride to the main Colombo Road where buses pass South to Negombo and Colombo and North to Chillaw. Negombo Town and Negombo beachside are each 10 minutes by tuktuk, The normal fare is only Rs 250 $1.80 GBP 1.20p. Resident houseman/tuktuk driver Chaminda will be pleased to drop you off in Negombo Town or Negombo Beachside. He will give you a business card with his phone number, so when you wish to return you can ask your tuktuk driver to call Chaminda, to get directions in Sinhala to locate our house. We are also on G00gle Maps as Christopher's Homestay. From Negombo Bus Stand buses depart to destinations island wide. The A/C highway buses to Colombo (40 minutes) depart frequently and the fare is Rs 120 $ 1.50 GBP 1. Avoid the early morning rush hour popular with Colombo commuters, when a long queue forms to board the A/C Highway buses. Chaminda is normally available to drive guests around Negombo, and he also does airport pickups and drop offs by arrangement. If Chaminda is busy or unavailable, we have the telephone number of other local tuktuk drivers who will come in minutes to pick you up from the house and take you to Negombo Beachside or Negombo Town. From Negombo station there are trains to destinations island wide. Christopher's Homestay House is in the quiet Dalupotha area of Negombo, only 10 minutes by tuktuk to Negombo Beachside or Negombo Town. Resident houseman and tuktuk driver Chaminda will be happy to drop you off and pick you up from Negombo Beachside or Negombo Town, at a cost of Rs 250. For your return we will give you one of our cards with Chaminda's phone number. You can take a tuktuk from beachside and call Chaminda so that he can give your tuktuk driver directions in Sinhala to find our house. There are several local shops in the area; a very small one at the end of our road, a small convenience shop at the end of the street, and a larger shop which has just about everything you could need, also in walking distance at the end of the street. In Negombo Town there is the large modern supermarket Arpico, and the long establish Cargills supermarket. Food: You are welcome to join us for dinner. Houseman Chaminda is a very good cook of Sinhalese-style rice and curry, which he is happy to prepare, by arrangement, in his mild, not too spicy version, suitable for Western tastes. Desert is usually fresh fruit salad and icdecream.
