Diamond House: private guest suite in nature

Diamond House is a mid-century modern hillside home in a nature-filled setting at the end of a quiet, winding cul-de-sac. The attached guest suite has a private entry separate from the main house, spacious bedroom with sitting area, window AC, and en-suite bath. From the small private deck you can enjoy your morning cup of coffee in the quiet, natural setting while watching for the neighborhood family of deer. Any and all guests who appreciate quiet and nature are welcome. The space Ideal for a couple, or business-person working in the area. Very convenient to downtown San Rafael, Dominican University, transit or outdoor activities in nature. New queen size bed, new bathroom, coffee maker and microwave provided. Renovations on the spacious suite (nearly 300 square feet/28 square meters) are just completed with a focus on Eco-friendly methods: wool batt insulation, double-paned windows, low VOC paints, energy efficient LED lights and recycled clear heart redwood decking. A new bed and all new bathroom with European style fixtures and corner shower (no tub) are ready for your visit! The super secluded nature-filled setting is convenient too, just a 10 minute walk to downtown San Rafael with its vibrant live music, food and craft brewery scene. Centrally located, you can venture out to hike Mt Tamalpais (Mt. Tam to the locals) head to Point Reyes and Stinson Beach, or hop onto nearby highway 101 to drive to the redwoods or the Sonoma and Napa Valley wine country—just 45 minutes by car. And Dominican University is only a mile away. If your stay brings you here on a Sunday, enjoy the Civic Center Farmer’s Market--one of the largest in California-- focused on organic produce. Bring you bike and enjoy a mountain full of trails, or ride into San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. The Larkspur Ferry is a 15 minute bike ride away. High-speed ferries will get you to the City in 35 minutes and is a beautiful ride. Or drive to Fisherman’s Wharf in 25 minutes. . Guest access The house is located at the end of a fairly steep winding lane. There is convenient on-street parking; please don’t park directly in front of the Fire Lane sign and be sure to leave room for other cars to turn around. 10 steps will lead you to the front deck, with level access from there around the side of the house to your separate (and private) front door. Motion activated lights will light your way if you arrive after dark; and it can get dark here due to limited street lights and abundant adjacent open space—all the better to see the stars! You will receive the access code in advance and you can easily self check-in to the suite. If you wish, knock on the front door to say hi. We value your privacy and will never access the suite during your stay. There is a connecting door between the airbnb and the main house that remains locked during your stay. We use it to service the airbnb between guest stays. We can often accommodate early check-in requests. Please ask and we will let you know if that's possible based on our schedule. If you are a regular business traveler to the area, I encourage you to contact me and we can agree to a reduced weekly rate. From the street, you will notice some freeway noise; once inside, your suite is extremely quiet. A window-AC is provided for your comfort in the summer months. We remove the AC in the cooler months (November through April) to prevent drafts. Parking is available on the street right in from of the property. Please do not leave valuables visible in your car; while we live in a secluded and extremely safe area, we are not responsible for theft or damage to your vehicle during your stay here.
