Cortijo la Huella is outside the market town of Órgiva, in the Alpujarra valley. All around are spectacular views of mountains. The accommodation is in the Casita, a little guesthouse set among orange trees, close to the swimming pool. It comprises a living room with kitchenette, dining area and sofabed. The bedroom sleeps 2 guests configurable as double or twin. Bathroom with shower. Patio doors open to a terrace. Air con/heating & wifi. No infants. No children under 8 when pool open (Mar-Nov). The space Internally the building is light and airy and is decorated in a modern-rustic style with Moorish Andalusian accents. Muted colours and white walls mix with the warm tones of traditional exposed brickwork and the handmade terracotta floor tiles creating a clean and comfortable country look. Oranges grow in season right outside the windows. Views beyond are to the Sierra Nevada and Sierra Lujar mountains. The bathroom is contemporary with a glass brick shower wall and mosaic tiling. Jute rugs soften the floors. The compact and well designed kitchenette has a two-point induction hob and microwave with grill function. There is no oven. The terrace with outdoor furniture is ideal for sunny breakfasts or shady evenings surrounded by citrus trees, pomegranate, prickly pear cactus and a vine. The host lives part-time in the adjacent cortijo (cottage). Guest accommodation is in the casita which is located in the garden near the pool. There will be no other guests during your stay. The garden is shared with the host. The pool is for your private use. The bedroom will be made up with a double bed unless guests request separate beds at least two days before arrival. Guest access Having a vehicle is advisable, otherwise the nearest amenities in Órgiva are a 25 minute uphill walk along a quiet country lane. A couple of bars and restaurants are closer and easy to reach on foot. The property has on-site parking for three cars. Guests will receive detailed directions and access instructions prior to arrival. Other things to note The swimming pool is open and operational between late March and mid November; it will be closed and covered outside of these times, but the surrounding pool terrace can still be enjoyed year round. I do not accept bookings with children under the age of 8 when the pool is open, due to safety considerations. I do not accept bookings with infants under 2 years old at any time. Various caretakers visit for regular maintenance, including when guests are staying. They attend most frequently in summer - the pool maintenance staff every few days, and gardeners twice a week. The property name is Cortijo la Huella. 'Cortijo' is a typical rural Andalusian farmhouse. 'Huella' in Spanish means a footprint, track, step or way. Casita means a little secondary house or cottage.
