Description
Part of a tastefully renovated, pretty stone farmhouse, this light and spacious self-contained accommodation is situated in the heart of the beautiful rolling Gascony countryside. It is set in a large mature garden, with superb unspoilt views of the surrounding countryside and the Pyrenees to the South. It is the ideal place to enjoy a relaxing holiday away from it all, yet the pretty medieval village of Marciac, with all its amenities, is only 3 minutes' drive away. The space The property is at the end of a no-through lane, with no passing traffic, a tranquil place to enjoy the unspoilt natural beauty and abundant wildlife of this region. The accommodation itself is fully double glazed, with a large, high quality kitchen, a comfortable dining/sitting area with satellite television and Blu-ray player, a modern shower room and separate toilet, all on the ground floor. Stairs lead up to a spacious double bedroom on the mezzanine, with a large wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and lamps. Patio doors on the ground floor lead out to a spacious covered terrace, complete with table, chairs, sun loungers and barbecue, where you can comfortably dine al fresco or sip an aperitif (or two). Guests can enjoy the large garden and are welcome to pick fresh organic seasonal fruit and vegetables, at no extra charge. The kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, coffee maker, toaster and kettle, as well as all the usual pots, pans and cutlery. There is also an iron and ironing board and a hairdryer. If you plan a picnic, there is a cool bag, ice pack, plates, cups and cutlery. Bicycles, darts and board games are also available. Bedlinen and towels are provided. There is free unlimited internet for your own device. We accept bookings for a minimum of 2 days. However, during the Jazz Festival in Marciac we only accept bookings Saturday to Saturday. Guest access The accommodation is attached to the owners property but is completely separate and self contained, with its own entrances. Guests are welcome to use all parts of the large garden. Other things to note Bustling markets with fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables can be found every day of the week at any number of pretty local villages. For music lovers, the property is perfectly placed for the prestigious Jazz Festival in Marciac, when the whole village is alive with restaurants, bars, stalls, exhibitions and performers, and the plentiful parking is free of charge. The nearby villages of Mirande and Vic Fezensac host a Country and Western Festival and a vibrant Latino Festival. For wine lovers, there are interesting vineyards and tastings in this wine growing region. The area is famous also for its Armagnac, foie gras and duck dishes. For the more active, a large, open-air swimming pool and tennis courts can be found in Marciac. There is an 18 hole golf course at the impressive Pallanne Chateau 10 minutes’ drive away, with reasonable green fees and a good restaurant. Fishing opportunities are plentiful in the nearby rivers and lakes, or simply enjoy the unspoilt natural beauty of the region by bike or on foot. For excursions further afield, this is a good base for trips to Spain, the Pyrenees, Lourdes, Biarritz or Bordeaux.
