The Anchorage in the fishing village of Kyleakin, Isle of Skye is our family-owned recently-refurbished holiday cottage located in a magical location overlooking the Kyle of Lochalsh. Abundant wildlife, (otters and seals regularly in the garden or water right outside the house) stunning mountains and sunsets, and wilderness. The space The cottage garden has a gate which leads from the right on to the high tide line making an ideal spot to fish or just sit and watch the yachts, ships, naval vessels and fishing boats come and go. Opposite is the lighthouse-keeper’s cottage Eilean Bàn where author Gavin Maxwell (Ring of Bright Water) lived. Kyleakin is perfectly situated on Skye, just a few minutes from the bridge and within easy reach of the many holiday attractions of the island. Although very peaceful, there is always something going on in the channel or the fishing harbour and marina around the corner. The Anchorage is a two bedroom holiday cottage and is cosy enough to accommodate either one or two couples but spacious enough for a family of up to four people (plus single camp bed for a fifth on request). Absolutely no smoking or pets please - the otters dislike both! **Please note that due to dangerous rocks and direct sea access we cannot accommodate children under the age of seven ** Guest access Full use of the house, garden, beach/rocks Other things to note The garden has a gate which leads straight onto the private foreshore, from where you can fish, have a glass of wine, or just sit and watch the yachts, naval and fishing boats come and go, including the occasional submarine or cruise liner. Opposite is the lighthouse-keeper's cottage on Eilean Bàn where author Gavin Maxwell (Ring of Bright Water) lived. All rooms overlook the water which is ten metres from the house. In the summer the sun sets behind the majestic Skye Bridge which is about a kilometre away (no traffic noise - this is Skye!) The house itself has recently been refurbished to a high standard and guests enjoy the use of superfast broadband, Apple Mac computer, Alexa sound system, underfloor heating, Aga cooker, zinc-topped kitchen refectory table digital TV and extensive range of extensive books and objects d'art. Kyleakin is perfectly situated on Skye, just a few minutes from the bridge and within easy reach of the varied attractions of all parts of the island.
