During wet seasons we have tubes and kayaks to explore, swim and relax when the river is suitable. This is a wild river where flows and levels vary uncontrollably. Hiking in and along river bed is great if river is not flowing. Fishing, searching for fossils and water-holes, spotting wildlife and exploring the unique Blanco River valley ecosystem is a favorite activity. The river is sometimes dry beyond our control while other times flowing throughout the year. Find and book nearby swimming holes early as a swimming option. Other things to note Dogs need pre-approval and should be dog friendly. Our dog, Huckleberry, is a behaved country dog who greets guests and is respectful and loved by all. A $55 fee is charged at registration. Tin-roof makes rain and squirrel travel very loud. Lizards are common. Rocky trail to cabin is hazardous at night without a flashlight. Outdoor shower is private but open-air. No toddlers or small children please. Cabin not child-proofed. Porch and windows high above ground.
