Description
This cottage is in a remote position on the Isle of Raasay, and is the highest dwelling on the Isles. The weather can be extreme. The sunroom faces WSW looking out at Skye from the Cuillins up to Trotternich. You can walk directly from it both up Dun Caan and down to Inver beach. It is a traditional croft cottage, with original features retained. Wi-fi is good enough for emails, streaming most times, but not for video calls. Not necessarily suitable therefore for working online. The space The cottage has a double and a twin room upstairs and a sofa bed in the living room. The living room has a wood burner (firewood in shed), the kitchen is well-equipped, with a table, or there is a dining tale in the sunroom. There is a bathroom upstairs and a shower/utility room downstairs. There is a terrace and a lovely grassy area outside. Other things to note The drive is steep and a bit rough. The water comes from the fenced-off spring above the tank. We have always enjoyed it as beautiful drinking water, but we have now installed a UV filter to Highland Council standards and approval. The hot water tank needs to reheat after a bath, about an hour. It is set for On 5-7am and 5-11pm, but you can switch it on at any time by Advance on the control unit in kitchen, Some of the furniture dates from my parents and is quite old and can be delicate. There are some classic retro items. Please plan your trip carefully, being sure to check the ferry times. You need to be at the ferryport five minutes before departure time. Also note that Raasay House and other facilities are often closed in winter.
