Soundings - a quiet wooded retreat near the sea
Description
"Soundings” is set in the trees at the quiet end of a dead end street, just a 10 minute walk from the beach. On the second floor there are two large bedrooms with a queen bed and bunk beds in each. There is a small den with a TV, and a split bath which has a bathtub/shower and large sink in one half and a toilet and sink in the other half. *We can accommodate up to 5 guests for short term rentals.* The space We chose the name "Soundings" for our spacious retreat because: when the windows are open you can often hear the surf, when the trains pass by you can hear their rumbling approach and retreat and the haunting echoes of their whistle, and we hope, like the river boats of old which dropped "sounding lines" to judge the depth of the river, we offer our guests an opportunity to reflect on and rejoice in life. Guest access Check in us between 2 and 9 pm. please notify us of your expected arrival time. While you are here you can have access to all of the upstairs space. The den is equipped with a TV connected to cable, and some basics for simple meals - a small refrigerator, a coffeepot with fresh ground coffee, an assortment of tea, a microwave and a small assortment of dishes and serving utensils. When the weather is warm you can enjoy our screened porch looking out on the wooded side yard and make use of the outside grill. Or you can borrow beach equipment and explore our lovely quiet beach community and, if you like, rinse off under the outside shower. During your stay Jonathan and Shantia really enjoy helping folks have the best time they can here in Maine. If you would like some ideas of places to visit, adventures to explore, or great places to eat just let us know.
