Description
A charming Welsh cottage 1.6 miles from the picturesque village of Berriew. Lovingly curated with your comfort in mind to give you that feeling of a home from home. Perfectly located to explore the beautiful countryside of Montgomeryshire & the Shropshire borders, equally well placed as a midway base to head South for the fantastic Pembrokshire coastline; North to the rugged scenery of Snowdonia; or west with more stunning coastline, nature reserves & medieval structures less than an hour away. The space The cottage, situated on the outskirts of the village of Berriew, is warm and inviting whatever the weather. Keeping the Danish way of 'Hygge' very much in mind when preparing the cottage for guests. With a log burning fire in the lounge for cooler evenings; a 4 oven aga in the country kitchen for the wintery months and blankets everywhere!!! During the warmer months there is outdoor seating / dining with a fire pit (and blankets) with atmospheric lighting too. We have an ancient woodland next to the cottage, the River Rhiw below us and lots of fantastic walks along bridal ways & footpaths on our doorstep. Mid Wales has so much to offer from medieval halls, castles, fantastic eateries (award winning restaurant 5 minutes away by car) that it's impossible to see everything in just one visit. To help there is a printed guide to the surrounding area plus additional literature to help you get the most out of your stay in Mid-Wales. The cottage is also my family home (I vacate to a completely separate annexe when rented out so entire cottage and garden is exclusive) and as a dog owner too I have tried to think of everything to make the house as comfortable and functional as possible from extra blankets, welly and paw wash, dog towels, super comfy mattresses, 2 x 50" smart TVs, dishwasher, workspace and more... There is a large family sized bathroom with a double ended bath and large separate shower off the Master bedroom on the first floor, and a very spacious shower-room with a double shower and WC on the ground floor. The three bedrooms are all on the first floor where you will find another space on the large landing for quiet time if needed or if you have some work to do whilst away there is a roll top bureau with a slide out desk. When occupied by guests I stay on site in a separate annex so not too far away if needed but also ensuring you have the seclusion if required. Guest access There is a separate laundry off the kitchen with a washing machine and dryer, an additional kitchenette with oven, grill and hob for the summer months when the Aga isn't running, with plenty of space for coats and wellies too. We also have outbuildings to store equipment such as bikes & kayaks. There are two pubs in the village plus a fine dining experience at The Upper Rectory. Garthmyl Hall Wedding & Events venue and the award winning Nags Head Hotel (Gastro Pub and restaurant) are 5 minutes away by car. The Montgomeryshire canal runs through Berriew with fully restored tow paths if you fancy walking or cycling to the nearby market towns of Welshpool or Newtown or there is Glansevern Hall Gardens for you to stroll around and enjoy the Victorian architecture just two miles from the cottage. Other things to note If you have any special requirements such as specific mobility needs or a different bed / bedroom configuration, a large family or more than one pet please do message me as it maybe possible to accommodate your needs.
