Description
The curious will be rewarded. The Fisteris is not only a place to stay, it is an experience. Keep an eye on the weather. It's as if the sky is promoting a different artist everyday. Wonder upon the twinkle of distant celestial bodies as shooting stars connect their dots. Enjoy two steaming firey claw foot hot tubs up against the red stalks of our 73 year old blueberry field . No masseuse could compare. The space A great winter is upon us. The snow is mighty and plentiful. This is the best time to stay. The Fisteris is a quest masquerading as a 365 sq ft. tiny house cabin on an organically grown blueberry farm. If you have a little Karen in you, this might not be a good fit. You gotta be a little tough to stay here. It was originally a Picker's shack in the 1940s. It has been updated with recycled materials. This process took 10 years. There are two narrow twins and a full size mattress. There is a flushing toilet, fireplace, kitchenette, and is a paradise for humans and dogs alike *This time of year is when we shut down the shower and have the tubs only for bathing and hot water is dispensed from a big pot on the fireplace for dishwashing.* It's just over a 2 mile ride into nearby Bangor or a ten miler to the popular South Haven for food and fun. We are just a few miles from the Van Buren County trail system which goes directly to South Haven as well as Van Buren State Park (atop the Palisades that tower over the powerful Lake Michigan). If you’re looking for a cross country ski adventure, or scenic mountain or e-bike ride you’ve come to the right place. Virtually no one uses these trails. They are a hidden gem. For food: -There is an upscale tequila bar called Frida's that's open in Bangor. I highly recommend the chorizo sopas. -Just outside of Bangor there is Walt and Marie’s with excellent breakfast sandwiches -The nearby Tea Pot Dome is an authentic classic diner run by a sweet lady named Alice with an outstanding collection of teapots. -ArcLight brewery is nearby in Watervliet and brews really good beers and sours. -Sister Lake Brewing Co. is not too far and has been around forever. Feels right on a Saturday night. -The one of a kind, my personal favorite, the Great Mead Hall in Bangor. It has a really good blueberry Mead from berries grown on our farm. It also has axe throwing, foosball, and a sweet old faded yellow upright piano for striding. They are D&D people and seem to always have a game going. Whatever you spend in this tiny town really helps the local economy. Packages available: 1. Unlimited firewood for two nights $59 ($30/night) 2. Deluxe package. This is unlimited firewood plus a gift basket of goodies exclusively produced in our neighborhood. It could possibly include: pork, blueberry soap, Mead, jam, blueberry raisins (blazens), blueberry balsamic vinegar, cana , duck eggs, blueberry maple syrup, and/or whatever else is popping off our menu at the time. $165 3. Gift basket only $85 4. Hot springs: Pull up to two steaming clawfoot tubs (fires started under tubs before you arrive) need a minimum of 4-Hour ETA. Loaded gift basket with local farm-raised meats and a variety of blueberry goodies. Unlimited firewood for your entire stay. $192 5. The Fire Starter package: The tubs pre-warmed or fires pre-built with unlimited firewood (two-day stay): $92 Bangor is also a mecca for cannabis. If that's your thing, it’s recreational now and all you need is picture ID to visit the dispensaries in town. *We also ask that you please do not ask for an early check-in or a late check out. We are busy, busy, busy just like you. There are no concrete parking lots out here. This is…the woods. Other things to note This is a tiny house cabin. There is no dishwasher or wifi. It’s minimalistic and rustic It is perfect for a family getaway of 4 or 5, a romantic adventure for two, or a writer’s retreat for one
