The Spanish Boathouse is on Galmpton Creek and is close to Dartmouth, Dittisham, the beaches of Torbay and the South Hams, with footpaths, golf, restaurants and decent pubs nearby. The Boathouse is right on the River with launching and mooring available by arrangement. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The Boathouse is available for couples and singles. If you need separate beds, there is a sofa bed in the lounge. The space The Boathouse was recently rebuilt having fallen into disrepair. Historically the original structure is Tudor and was once used to house Spanish prisoners from the Armada (hence the name) and the river actually sloshes around beneath you. It sits at quay level below the main house (built for Edward VII when Prince of Wales at Dartmouth Naval College). We may be able to rent you a double kayak, 4hp inflatable or 50hp Boston Whaler (if you have at least an ICC level 2). This is strictly by arrangement and depends on our own usage... all strictly at your own risk - we're not a professional rental company and these are our own private boats Guest access The entire Boathouse and river terrace are your private domain. The roof terrace is up the stairs from the barbecue and has a four-seater teak dining table and is shared with the main house - we have our own terrace and dining table above so it's only likely to be shatred if we're having a party, to which, naturally , you would be invited. The shared parking is at the bottom of a long drive (four steps up from the quay) and is available for one car Other things to note The Creek has launching and mooring facilities for which we will provide details if you need them. Be aware that the Creek is a drying mooring (accessible usually three hours either side of high tide). Spring tides may cover the approach road for an hour or so every two weeks at around 8am or 8pm - there's a tide table in the Boathouse.
