Description
A beautiful, rustic, Jacobean manor house situated in stunning gardens in the glorious Weald of Kent countryside. Big enough to sleep up to 30, whilst also being homely and welcoming. The space Bore Place House is ideal for large groups and families. It is a quintessential English country house with enough space for large groups of people to stay comfortably - with beautiful gardens all set in the rolling Kent countryside, it is the perfect house for a get together. Easily accessible by car and train but situated in its own 500 acre organically managed estate it feels a world away from busy living and offers a perfect escape from city life. There are 12 bedrooms and a downstairs study that can be made up to provide a 13th bedroom. One is ensuite, two have a private toilet and shower room, and the other bedrooms share bathrooms, approximately three rooms to one bath/shower room. All beds can be made up as singles if that is more convenient. Cotton linen and towels are provided. There is a traditional drawing room, lined with bookshelves and a woodburning stove for guests to use at will. This room has doors that open up on to the garden, large sofas and a quiet corner for reading and relaxing. There are three further reception rooms - one with doors on to a terrace with a firepit overlooking our ornamental reflection pond - ideal for sitting out in the day or evening . The fully equipped kitchen has a electric range oven and a further fan oven and induction hob and offers plentiful dining space across two tables. There are doors from the kitchen onto another terrace with a charcoal BBQ available for your use. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens incorporating terraced areas, ponds, borders and beds, lawns, a stream and a swing. From the gardens there are numerous walks that you can enjoy around and beyond the private 500 acre estate. Our Bore Place walks maps are displayed in the foyer of Bore Place House and give you great access to the surrounding countryside, including three classic pubs - The Greyhound at Charcott, The Little Brown Jug at Chiddingstone Causeway and The Wheatsheaf at Bough Beech, at a 5 minute drive or 45 minute walk away. Bore Place is situated on a organic farm and is home to The Commonwork Trust, a charity that aims to explore how to live and work sustainably, through education and programmes to support young people. We utilise green energy for heating and water, including wood chip harvested from the local woodlands. We are committed to minimising waste and using ethical, green products throughout the site. Our gardens and grounds are buzzing with biodiversity - we actively manage our woodlands, ponds, field edges and hedgerows to promote wildlife, and to support our protected species, particularly great crested newts and bats. Guest access We encourage you to treat Bore Place House as a home away from home. You will have exclusive use of the house. We will show you in and help you get settled before leaving you to make this house your home during your stay. Staff live on site but the house will be exclusively yours whilst you are staying with us. Other things to note Bore Place House is situated at Bore Place - which includes a working farm, organic market gardens and an environmental education centre. It is an incredibly peaceful location, situated in 500 acres of unspoilt countryside. Whilst the house itself and its gardens are totally private, you might encounter other people on the grounds. Due to the nature of the farm, there are tractors and farm vehicles on-site and we ask that all guests take care whilst exploring the grounds. Please note that other than service animals, pets are not permitted at this property.
