Enjoy this quintessential 1890’s renovated New England in-town Farmhouse that has a large back yard with a lot of trees so you feel a little bit of country living while being close to city amenities in Biddeford Maine, close to Kennebunk and Old Orchard Beach. The house has a modern farmhouse kitchen with a professional Thermador gas range. Sanded and oiled original wide plank pine floors in the living room, staircases, and upstairs are mixed with new Caribbean heart pine in the kitchen, dining room, and 2nd bedroom. The extensive electrical update added new lighting fixtures including those from well-known lighting manufacturers, while keeping original fixtures in the dining and living rooms. Outside custom assembled barn lights sit over the garage and porch doors and are equipped with dusk to dawn technology so they come on when it gets dark. The house is perched on a hill at the top of long driveway. Enter through the garage/barn, and through the mudroom (equipped with a washer and dryer and original large farmhouse sink with new Kohler faucet). The mudroom leads into the updated kitchen that opens up into the dining area. This charming Farmhouse has a modern kitchen equipped with a professional Thermador gas range, Thermador (by Bosch) dishwasher, Fisher Paykel French door refrigerator/freezer, built-in microwave, and toaster oven. We will provide both a teapot and coffee maker. The subway-tiled walls have custom blood wood shelves. Additional storage room for dry goods can be found in an Armoire in the dining room/den area off of the kitchen. The round dining room table is set-up for 4 persons, but there is an extension leaf that turns the table into a larger oval for those who prefer the larger space. Near the kitchen is access to an enclosed porch with a bench and two Adirondack chairs, and a coffee table. This is a traditional farmhouse with the 2 bedrooms upstairs and the single bathroom with shower on the first floor. The house has an original staircase leading to the two bedrooms. There is a bonus room/den off of the main bedroom that can be used for storage. Both bedrooms are similar in size but only the main bedroom has a closet. Both bedrooms have dressers, and the second bedroom has a hook plus a rod with plenty of room for hanging clothing. During the renovation we kept and refinished an extremely steep original 2nd staircase which we never use, and do not want guests to use for safety reasons. It leads to an additional room that is closed off to the rest of the house and not part of the rental (used for storage). Because of this staircase, the house is not suitable for young children. The farmhouse has some antique furniture mixed with modern pieces, and the walls are decorated with some of my wife's photography. This house was an original farmhouse built in the 1800’s and it was built on a granite foundation, and there is a lot of tree coverage outside which keeps this house very cool, even in the summer. But if needed, the two bedrooms have air conditioning units, plus there is a fan in the upstairs closet. The farmhouse is available from May through early October. 6 night minimum, but a 3 night booking period is possible for the month of June and July .
