We warmly invite you to this private spot for exploring the North Coast. With a full kitchen, bathroom, and washer and dryer, you will find this space accommodating and inviting. A secluded yard including a porch with outdoor dining set is perfect for a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine. The kitchen is fully appointed for simple snacks or full meals, including full-size refrigerator, electric stove/oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, cookware, dishware, and baby/child dishes. The bedroom features a queen bed with a full closet with hangers and a dresser. The couch has a pull-out queen bed with additional memory foam mattress topper, which we are told is not the most comfortable for sensitive sleepers and may be best for kids. Plenty of windows let in the natural light and blinds can keep it dark for sleeping in. The TV has a Roku player that you can use to stream from your own Netflix or Hulu account and is not hooked up to an antenna or cable. A designated parking space gives you easy access to your home away from home. We live in the main house next-door with our two kids (ages 11 and 15) and two dogs, 2 cats, and 3 goats. While we aim to be unobtrusive, you may hear the typical noises of a bustling family or two cheery golden retrievers on the other side of the fence at times. Since we know how it can be difficult to travel with pets, we are open to considering yours as well, so long as they are well-behaved, potty trained, and clean. The house is located up on a hill in Bayside, a charming neighborhood just outside the heart of Arcata. An amazing coffee house is just around the corner, or find a range of restaurant options in Arcata or Eureka. A bike path takes you two miles into Arcata. The nearest grocery store is a mile away and two natural foods stores are a mile further in downtown Arcata. During Spring, Summer and Fall, check out the local farmers markets, the most robust being Saturday mornings on the Arcata Plaza where you can pick up organic produce, honey, or watch children climb trees and adults hula hoop. Two miles from the Arcata Plaza and Humboldt State University, seven miles from Old Town Eureka, 17 miles to the delightful beach town of Trinidad, and 26 miles to the Victorian village of Ferndale. You will have a dedicated parking spot directly in front of your gated, private yard. You will be in an unattached, 1-bedroom space with full kitchen and bathroom. We live in the main house with two kids, two golden retriever dogs, two cats, and three goats. Though we aim to leave you undisturbed, we do have the activity and noises of a bustling family. Our yard is separately gated so our dogs will not wander into your space. As long-term Humboldt County residents, we love to share tips about outdoor places to hike, bike, run, surf and explore. With miles of trails through redwood forests, bay marshes, and beaches, there are almost unlimited numbers of adventures to enjoy. With kids and dogs of our own, we can help you figure out the outing most suited to you. We also respect your privacy and are happy to give you your space. We are reachable by text or phone anytime. Tucked away up on a hill, we are a short walk to a cafe, bike path or road to downtown Arcata, and close to Highway 101 for anywhere else you’d like to go. It’s a quiet family-friendly neighborhood. We are easy to reach by bicycle, car, taxi or Uber. No smoking of any substances ever.
