The Naturalist is a cozy rustic bunkie set on a private site surrounded by forest and wetland. With a double bed, private outdoor shower, outhouse and fire pit, it’s the perfect spot to disconnect while enjoying trails, a sauna, and swimming at Bull Lake or exploring by canoe. For nature lovers seeking a tranquil retreat, The Naturalist offers the perfect rustic glamping experience. Set on a private site within 200+ acres of forest and wetland, this bunkie is designed for simple comfort and a true connection with the outdoors. Inside, you’ll find a double bed, a small table with two chairs, and a solar light for evenings, there is no electricity in the space. From November to April, a propane “cozy heater” is provided for warmth (propane is not supplied in warmer months). Your private site includes a fire pit, picnic table, private outhouse, and outdoor shower with on-demand hot water. You’ll also have access to a communal washroom building with a flush toilet, indoor shower, and vanity. Beyond your site, the property offers hiking trails, a wood-fired sauna and cold plunge (free to use and booked for privacy), and canoe rentals for exploring nearby Bull Lake. The Naturalist is a rustic, no-frills getaway designed for guests who want to unplug, unwind, and immerse themselves in nature while still enjoying the comforts of a cozy bed and hot shower. Guest access Washroom building available seasonally May-November weather permitting, all nature trails, pond, potable water. Other things to note Power & Lighting This bunkie is rustic glamping. Inside, you’ll find a solar light for the evenings, but there is no electricity. Please bring extra lighting or power banks if needed. Dogs - One dog is welcome per bunkie (sorry, no cats due to allergies). - Please let us know in advance if you’re bringing your pup. - Dogs must not be left alone in the bunkie and should remain on-leash around other guests. - Please do not use the shared bathroom building to bathe pets. Canoe Rental Canoes are available to rent from our main house for $25/day (includes paddles and lifejackets). The canoe is on wheels so it can be easily pulled down to the Bull Lake launch. Firewood & Fires - Please purchase local firewood or use fallen deadwood from the property. - Fire pits at each site are equipped with a grill for cooking. You’re also welcome to bring a portable camp stove. - Fires and candles must be completely extinguished before bed or leaving your site. Packing Suggestions Helpful items to bring: fire starter, flashlight, bug spray, bug net, GPS, camp saw, and axe/hatchet. Respect for Nature & Guests - Leave no trace: please take garbage with you when you check out. - Store food securely and never feed wildlife. - Keep noise levels low to preserve the peace of the forest. - Do not cut branches from standing trees, use only fallen wood or purchase local wood.
