Rushmore, 60 min-Devil's Tower! The space This 1906 Victorian was owned by some of the most prominent families in Spearfish. It was built by a member of the original 1874 Custer Expedition that discovered gold in the Black Hills. He returned after the expedition, “stuck it rich" in Deadwood, and built this solid concrete house for his family in Spearfish. It is decorated in a combination of period antiques and replicas. Enjoy a relaxing evening on the Adirondacks chairs on the huge wrap-around porch and watch the world go by! The ground floor has a parlor and billiard room in addition to the large formal dining room and kitchen. The dining room can comfortably seat 24 people and frequently hosts family reunions/receptions/conferences. The kitchen is fully furnished with a pro-grade 8-burner stove w/double oven, 3rd convection oven/microwave, fridge, coffee pot, mixer/food-processor, pots/pans/utensils and place settings for 24 people. There is one ground floor bedroom with easy access which opens onto the back deck. 4 bedrooms are on the second floor, with multiple winding staircases adding to the mystic of this amazing house. The 3rd floor attic is fully finished. It is set-up as the living room but can also serve as a "sixth bedroom". 10 people can comfortably sleep in the 5 main bedrooms, and extra large groups can turn the attic living room into "dorm-style" sleeping and sleep 6 more guests. If using the attic as a bedroom, there is a queen-size day bed with queen trundle, a single bed, and a single daybed. The alcoves and corners in the attic look like a movie set and the view over the entire town of Spearfish is amazing! Guest access Guests will have access to the entire house--all 5000+ Sq Ft! Guests will be able to park up to 8 vehicles and/or trailers in the concrete parking lot and long, flat asphalt driveway. There is also on-street parking for 6 more cars. We have a portable wheelchair ramp that can be put in place in advance if requested. This will give access to the ground floor, to include the ground floor bedroom and bathroom. Please let us know if you have a guest using a wheelchair so we can prepare the entrance ahead of time. There is an attached addition (formerly a commercial business office of a previous owner) where an on-site groundskeeper lives. Other things to note -We DO allow up to two pets with a pet fee of $40 per stay. If you have more than two pets, please let us know and we will add those for an additional fee. -We have two porta-cribs with bedding available for groups with infants. They are stored in the master bedroom walk-through closet, but can be set up in advance if requested. -There is also a high-chair available. -We can set up a portable wheel-chair ramp in advance if requested. This will allow access to the ground floor, to include the ground floor bedroom and bathroom. The route to the ground floor bathroom goes through the laundry room, which is 28 inches wide. A wheelchair wider than 28 inches will NOT fit through to get to the ground floor bedroom/bathroom.
