A Country Retreat - tranquil, secluded, safe space

In the hamlet of Portgate, our Shepherds Hut is ideally situated to explore Devon and Cornwall. Alder vineyard, 2 miles away for tours and fresh food. Renowned farm shop, 2 miles. Beautiful beaches of Bude 35 mins drive and the rest of Cornwall is almost always an hour away! Ideally placed for: Dartmoor national park, wild, open moorlands, deep river valleys, with a rich history. Offering a peaceful, private setting, to completely unwind, in the heart of the stunning Devon countryside. The space Our luxury Shepherds hut, set in it's own large, secluded garden, with views over the surrounding countryside has a fully functioning kitchen area; with hob and microwave and log effect fire. All the kitchen equipment you might need is provided, with, of course, the all important kettle, toaster and cafetiere! The bathroom is in your hut, with all modern; shower, heated towel rail, basin and toilet. Towels are provided. Double bed with luxurious bedding. (Summer duvet if you prefer. and heated blanket for cooler evenings) Dining table and chairs. In your own private garden, with large table, chairs and parasol, you will find a beautiful summerhouse and Charcoal BBQ ,(bring your own charcoal) perfect for a romantic break. A tranquil and relaxing retreat. There is limited mobile phone signal, walk to the top of the hill and full signal available! Guest access Shepherds Hut, large private garden, Summerhouse. Other things to note Paddleboarding at Roadford lake, just a couple of miles from us. Cider festival in Bratton Clovelly in August, popular event! Lifton Farm Shop has many live bands over the sumner, just 2 miles from us. National fireworks competition in Plymouth, 13th and 14th August, 2025, just under an hour from us, not to be missed. Alder vinyard, tours, great food and just up the road! Please bring your own Charcoal if you would like to BBQ. No candles in the Shepherds Hut itself please, there are LED candles if you want to create an ambience. Check out by 10am to allow for ventilation time between guests. Sorry, no dogs/pets.
