Description
house in the heart of one of the best villages in France The space Our house has long been forgotten, when it was ever built: probably it consisted of two different houses, the oldest of which – located on the quiet Rue du Château – dates back to the 13th, or early 14th century. The presence of a private well in the basements is a rarity and indicates a rich past. At some point, that house was merged with a much younger house on the Place des Cornières, which dates back to the beginning of the 16th century and served for a long time around and after the French Revolution as the town hall of Lauzerte. The house is part of a covered gallery characteristic of this region – les couverts – around the (usually) sun-drenched market square. That little square has always been the beating heart of Lauzerte over the centuries and is still: not only is the market still being held there on Saturday – nowadays only by organic farmers from the immediate vicinity – but it also accommodates the terraces of a few friendly cafes and restaurants and regularly acts as a backdrop for a concert or stage performance. The two guest rooms have a private seating area and are located on the quiet Rue du Château. Guest access In our house you can find accommodation for a short or longer period of time in one of our two quiet and very spacious chambres d'hotes. Also, you are welcome to use breakfast, lunch or dinner under the shaded couverts of our house or only in the spacious private room (24 m2) or together with us in a common living room. This is located – and therefore gives direct views – the Place des Cornières, the friendly center of our medieval town where the human size has always been preserved. In addition, we are happy to serve you a pique-nique with peace and shade in the beautiful Jardin des Pelerins or in our orchard, which is a short walk away on one of the slopes of Lauzerte. Des jolies vues partout and we will be happy to show you around our coin perdu.
