Laie Beachside Estate
This classic Hawaii estate is nestled on over five acres of tropical beachside property near Laie, the Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU-Hawaii, and a short drive to popular North Shore beaches and attractions. The adjacent beach, Laie Beach Park, locally known as "Pounders, is an excellent sandy-bottom area good for swimming during summer and body surfing/boarding during winter. With four main ensuites and a separate sleeping cottage, this estate offers plenty of room for your entire family. The space A rarely available, beautiful Hawaiian home - the land has been in the family since 1873 and this wonderful old style Kama’aina home was built on the land in 2008, using traditional styles and finishes; and with superb attention to detail. It is a very much loved family home, available to rent only a few times a year. Situated on over 5 acres this is a true gem and you won’t find another property like it. This house is set up for Ohana (family) get togethers – sleeping 13 comfortably. There is no TV in the property, we come here to decompress from day to day life, and to enjoy each others’ company – we invite you to do the same. Ceiling fans abound, Hawaiian quilts adorn the beds – the very flexible accommodation has 5 bedrooms – all ensuite – the main house has two bedrooms on each side - connected to the main house by a lanai - each bedroom can be configured as either King or Twin and each end can be interconnected, or closed off. The rooms are named after Hawaiian trees or plants - The Ilima room has a bath with shower over, the Kukui, Milo and Koa rooms all others have walk in showers only. Each room has its own unique furnishings and style. There is a pack-and-play and highchair available. The remaining bedroom is in a sleeping cottage called the “Palaka House". It has 5 Twin beds and an ensuite bathroom with large shower (this can also be made as King/Twin). The Palaka House is situated a mere 50 feet from the main house. The main house has a large living room with pune'e (Hawaiian day bed) seating area for relaxing – and a Koa wood suite from the 1950s - a wonderful place for family chatting, board games, reading or napping. There is a pool table and indoor dining table which typically seats 10, but you can pull up extra chairs to seat more. There is another seating area in front of the fireplace – perfect for cooler nights. Lauhala mats lie on the floor with ceiling fans overhead. The room has glass/screen doors that open on to the front lanai which has a wonderful ocean view. The main house has a separate study with books galore, another pune'e and comfy seating. There is a table and chairs for jigsaws or playing games. The kitchen is old Hawaiian style, with doors to the front lanai seating/dining area. It is set up for larger family groups with two refrigerators – one for food and the other fridge/freezer for drinks and ice cream. Two dishwashers and plenty of cutlery/dishes for big family groups. There is a breakfast table with bench seating - There are usually two BBQs – one charcoal and the other gas to satisfy any cook. The front lanai has a large seating area to enjoy ocean views, and an outdoor dining table/seating area for morning coffee and long evening dinners. The back lanai has two seating areas overlooking the back yard towards the pool and paddle tennis court. The main purpose of this estate is family time and fun – there is a wonderful fenced in saltwater pool, with shallow area for small children, or just sitting on the steps chatting; plus a V shaped main pool area which allows for pool volley ball. [Note there is an additional fee for heating the pool during cooler weather if requested.] A shaded area allows for relaxed child supervision and meals by the pool, and there are recliners/loungers for those that want to bask under the Hawaiian sun. The property has a hard surface paddle tennis court, plus equipment for croquet, volleyball, badminton, giant jenga, and other outdoor games – as well as a 2 acre front yard for baseball, cricket, tag etc. Even with a large group there are plenty of corners for quiet relaxation – comfy chairs in the bedrooms, cozy corners on the lanai for reading a book, or napping but also group seating areas for catching up. There’s a large hammock swinging under two palm trees. Inside – board games including Clue, Monopoly, chess, checkers, cribbage, boggle, scrabble and numerous board and card games. Plenty of old style wooden jigsaws and a library full of books. A toy chest has a plethora of items to keep younger children happily entertained. We have avocados and mangoes when in season. The property has native Hawaiian plants, Naupaka, Pohinahina, Ti, Torch Ginger, Plumeria, Heliconia, Stephanotis, Hoya and native Hibiscus on the property – floral scents waft across the silky tropical air. Native Hawaiian birds fly by the property, you'll see the Ae’o (Native Hawaiian bird) fly in some nights and Kolea (Pacific Golden Plover) and ‘Akekeke (Ruddy Turnstone) are in the yard in winter season. The beach is across the road. Guests have been known to come for a week and never make it to the beach because the property is so relaxing and there’s plenty to keep yourselves entertained. Located only 0.6 miles from the Polynesian Cultural Center, 20 minutes from famous Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay. Historic Haleiwa town is a 40 minute drive along the beautiful Northern Coast. The city of Honolulu and the airport are both about an hour away. This is a great location to stay if you also plan to visit all of Oahu, that is, if you can tear yourselves away. In accordance with local short term rental regulations, we only offer one stay every 30 days, or stays of 30 days or more. All prices are subject to local taxes at current rate at time of booking (currently GET at 4.712% and TAT of 10.25% and OTAT at 3%). This property is peaceful, relaxed Hawaiian living at its finest. Guest access You'll have full access to our swimming pool, that is fed by artesian springs (can be heated in winter), paddle tennis court, beach and yard toys, and over 5 acres of beautifully landscaped property. Only registered guests may enjoy access to the property. Other things to note In Hawaii its customary to remove shoes before entering a home and we do ask that you do the same. Sand: We ask that you please wash off all sand before entering the home. You'll find that shaking the sand off towels and washing your feet before coming back from the beach will make the home much more enjoyable during your stay.
