Small Dream House

A quaint 18th century cottage set in the middle of the French countryside in the Gatine region of the Deux Sevres close to the Vendee. Fully renovated but retaining the original character of the cottage. 2 large bright and airy bedrooms. A large heated pool, terrace, hot tub, BBQ and boules pitch is reserved for use by our guests and the owners. There are three small towns within 12 km with a full range of amenities, supermarkets, bars and restaurants the closest being only 2.5 km away. The space La Garotiere is located close to the Deux Sevres, Vendee border of the Nouvelle Aquitaine region of France. A region with lush rolling hills, local lakes and forests to explore on foot, bicycle or car. The Gatine region is famous for its apple orchards, granite rock formations and Pescalis, the largest man made fishing complex in Europe. We are very close to Puy de Fou (1 hour) Futuroscope (1 hour 15), Parthenay and it's medieaval quarter is only 25 mins drive away and the wonderful La Rochelle is only 1hr 20 minutes away. If you prefer a more relaxed stay you can of course just relax on the large sun terrace by the heated pool ( Easter to October weather dependent) taking in the stunning countryside views. We are well served by local airports of Poitiers, La Rochelle and Nantes who in the summer months fly daily from the UK and Europe. The 18th century cottage is situated in extensive private gardens. It has a wonderful lounge with wood burning fire, original oak beams and dining area. There are two upstairs bedrooms, one with a double bed and ample space for a cot and the second twin room. A large fully fitted kitchen has gas and electric cooking, fridge freezer and dishwasher plus most other kitchen gadgets you might need. We provide a welcome pack on arrival which is tailor made for you when you book, typically this includes, tea, coffee, milk, quiche and wine. The family shower room and toilet is conveniently situated on the ground floor. Outside there is a dedicated picnic area perfect for al fresco dining near our garden. We have free range chickens that supply our eggs and an extensive potager (vegetable garden) that can supply seasonal organic vegetable. When in season you can make your own jam with our organic fruit. Other things to note If you use GPS to find us and it tries to send you through the voie communale at La Cigale please ignore it and use the access via the hamlet of Les Jarzalieres
