King Island would like to welcome you to "The Old Bakehouse". This unique building and its history of baking for the K.I. Community dates back to the early 1900’s. This iconic building is a short walking distance to Currie’s CBD where you can enjoy the friendly community of King Island, shops, restaurants, walking tracks and pristine beaches. At the end of your day relax and enjoy the serenity and sunset on the rear landing before retreating to the comfort and tranquility of “The Old Bakehouse”. The space Upon entering the Old Bakehouse, you will notice recycled timbers lining the walls, reclaimed from old shearing sheds. Polished concrete floors and white brick work giving it a unique industrial look. The kitchen is modern with a Smeg oven and induction cook top, Smeg fridge, microwave and Smeg appliances, Nespresso coffee machine, pots, pans and all utensils needed to make that perfect meal. We also provide the essentials for breakfast like bread, butter, Vegemite, jam, peanut butter, a variety of tea, coffee, and sugar for your convenience. The Baker’s old cast iron oven and the peel, which was last used in 1988, is showcased beneath reclaimed timber beams from an old Geelong pier. The spacious, modern lounge room is inviting with a plush carpet and leather lounge to relax and watch movies on the smart TV. Reading material and games are provided for you enjoyment and a Bose Bluetooth speak to listen to music. The main bedroom offers a queen size bed, with direct access to a patio\outdoor living area. A perfect area to relax at the end of the day and watch the sun go down while eating your complimentary cheese platter. Locally made bricks make a feature wall in the second bedroom which has 4 single beds for larger families which can be made into 1 king bed and 1 double. A port-a-cot and high chair are available on request, and also a small Ziggy BBQ. The modern bathroom has a large shower and has all your basic necessities. Al.ive Shampoo and conditioner, Al.ive body and hand wash, towels and hair dryer. The kitchen accommodates a European style laundry for your convenience. Free Wifi is available as King Island is limited to Telstra service only. “ The Old Bakehouse”, is unique with its history, rustic charm and is original to King Island. Other things to note Please note that there is no public transport on the Island so car hire is a must. Telstra is the only mobile phone provider that works on the Island.
