Description
Birkelunn is a traditional Norwegian Log Cabin, built in 1938, with a grass roof and many original features, and an open fireplace in the living room, with southerly views, the lodge has a ‘get away from it all’ atmosphere. Situated in the Cairngorms National Park, with stunning southerly views over Royal Deeside, half a mile walk through Scottish woodlands to the Cambus O’May Bridge over the river Dee. 2 Miles from Ballater, 2.5 miles to Dinnet and 20 drive to Aboyne. 40 mins to Glen Shee. The space A large dining room with dishwasher, drinks fridge and deep freeze. An adjoining kitchen with large range cooker, microwave, a second dishwasher and large fridge. A generous sized living room with TV, WiFi and table for games or work purposes. There are 2 cots and a high chair available. Also an outside kennel for 2 dogs. There is one twin room which, on request, can be made up as a Super King. There are also 2 sofa beds in some of the bedrooms which can be requested for children. The utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and board. Cleaning equipment and household goods. There is an outside log store and garage for bikes, fishing equipment and general storage. Also inside the garage are 2 large outdoor clothes dryers, a chest deep freeze and an extra large fridge. There is a portable BBQ and outside bench seating. Guest access Guests can access all areas of the property. Other things to note Salmon fishing may be available during the season (Mar-Sep) by separate request. Rod availability can be found on Fishpal river Dee. Local Riding schools at Balmoral or Glen Tanar should also be booked in advance. An instructor gliding experience to see the whole Dee valley can be booked in advance from the Aboyne Gliding School. We have a Project EV 7kw Type 2 charger at Birkelunn for our guests (accessed and paid via Project EV Pro app).
