Welcoming, inspiring, friendly family home in amazing safe location - close to city, North Shore hospitals, amenities…yet feels a hundred miles from the hustle & bustle! Surrounded by rainforest & so quiet without neighbours or traffic noise, that it is easy to sleep in. [Best to bring alarm clock!] House is ornate: polished floorboards & nature-inspired leadlight windows. Kitchen opens to large deck for outdoor dining. Furnished bedroom has Queen sized bed & desk with nice outlook to bushland. The space Shops, bus, trains, ferry, aquatic centre, library, cycleways, tennis court, golf course, Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private & Greenwich Hospital, North Sydney TAFE, gyms…are all handy and nearby. The closest shops are in Greenwich, Lane Cove & St Leonards, with Chatswood nearby. Unrestricted quiet on-street parking & 5 minutes walk to Pacific Highway, where buses take you in all directions, with the CBD in just 20 minutes. With the mini-rainforest environment there are birds, possums & a creek very near the house when it rains. We are blessed to be surrounded by nature, so please don’t expect a “sanitised environment.” There are bush walks in all directions from the back door, with a creek walk to the Harbour. The walk to Greenwich ferry takes approximately 30 minutes, when you walk along the bush paths. The forest location means it is not too hot in summer. A woodburning fireplace and spa bath keep it nice & cosy in winter. With two toilets, separate to the bathroom, you will never be caught short. It is a short bike ride to the Epping Rd cycleway that leads to Chatswood, North Sydney & MacQuarie University, mainly off-road on shared pathways. It is just 30 minutes bike ride to the city and 5 minutes ride to the Lane Cove shops. We can supply bikes and helmets. We welcome people from all cultures & can also provide free translation for Mandarin speakers if needed. At a squeeze, we could fit an additional child in the bedroom on an airbed. With two cute children ourselves, kids are always welcome for playdates. However if you are not comfortable with children, this home may not be for you. We provide tea, coffee & filtered water, plus use of stove, fridge, freezer, cutlery, crockery, utensils, etc. We can also offer a light continental breakfast, on request, for an additional $8 per person. Just let us know if you would like this included. It does not need to be paid for in advance. There is unlimited NBN internet. You can watch TV in the lounge area, with access there to Apple TV & Netflix. There are also two pianos, for the musically inclined. Summer air conditioning is available in the lounge area, with an expansive balcony for outdoor dining. Please note that there is a brick pathway with steps leading to the front door. There are also sandstone steps & paths to explore around the house. There are stairs leading to the laundry & second toilet. So our home is not suitable for disabled people or those with a mobility impairment. We have a second room which can also be available for families. If you want to relax after a hard days work or conference, a safe location, a nice home to come & go from as you enjoy discovering Sydney, easy access to trains, bus or ferry; or a relaxed 'home away from home' a short walk to Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private or Greenwich Hospital, with the bonus of a relatively sustainable house with solar panels & surrounded by nature…..not to forget a virtual retreat to relax or create to your heart's content, or a tranquil location for study, yoga, etc…then this is probably it. Guest access There is always plenty of free parking on the street. Brick steps lead down to the house, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs. During your stay Generally one of us can be available most of the time. Other things to note There are bushwalks from the door. The house is set on the edge of a rainforest enclave. The Lane Cove River / Sydney Harbour is a 10 - 15 minute walk through bushland. If there are more than two of you, you can also book a second room, also with a queen-sized bed. Reasonably behaved children are also welcome. Our kids, who are 10 and 7, love playdates, so will make your kids welcome.
