Visitor Packets may be sent to you ahead of time when you provide your mailing address. The Welcome Book, street map and literature are available in the Cottage when you arrive. The Cottage is located at the end of a country lane in a safe, residential, rural setting on wooded acreage. Neighbors are friendly and keep to themselves. Hosts live nearby so are available upon request. A car is helpful in getting around. However, Cookeville also has public transportation, Lyft, Uber, and taxis. All businesses have free parking including the town square and the historic downtown shops and restaurants. HIKING: Hiking is available on acreage surrounding the Cottage. Please walk any dogs in your group on a leash. CHILDREN: We welcome children at the Cottage! Guests are asked to watch their children when playing outdoors in particular. Please note, children are only permitted to hike on the property with an adult. GROUNDSKEEPING: Areas are mowed around the Cottage. Due to weather and availability, mowing and grounds maintenance might occur during your stay. COUNTRY LIVING: Country living comes with the possibility of critters. Guests may see wildlife like spiders, bees, squirrels, chipmunks, mice, deer, snakes, bobcats and some even say there are bears in these parts. For this reason guests are asked to keep all food and items of interest, such as trash, in the cottage. Please do not leave bags of trash outside or food outside. If you need trash removal during your stay please let us know. PESTS: Guests should be aware of chiggers, something fairly unique to the region. Chiggers cannot be seen with the naked eye. Their bites cause itching much like mosquitos. Please bring bug spray for playing or sitting outdoors. Inside the cottage we use a pest control service. SOUND: This is rural life at its finest, which is usually very quiet. Guests may hear sounds like crickets chirping, birdsong, cows mooing, dogs, tractors or even a little target practice off in the distance. FIREARMS: Guns and other weapons are not permitted on the property without pre-approval. Host is not liable for any accidents during the visit.
