Lovely Llainwen Cottages are situated in a peaceful rural location on a smallholding but just a few minutes drive from the stunning Cardigan Bay coastline. The owners’ fields are bisected by a bridleway leading to a lovely walk through adjoining woodland. Both cottages also supply a beautiful wooden cot, ideal for families with small children. Rainbow Cottage, is one of the two semi-detached cottages available. It is a traditional and very comfortable cottage for four people, with an L-shaped kitchen/dining room which leads to a separate living room. There is also a conservatory with exposed stonework, which is shared with the owners, with separate, private entrances, and overlooks the smallholding yard. Across the yard, the cottage has its own pretty and private garden with a hot tub (available all year round and for sole use of guests staying at Rainbow Cottage) a summer house and barbecue, with initial charcoal supplied. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with a TV and a family bathroom. The staircase to the second floor leads directly into a further twin bedroom. Ty Ceiniog (Penny House), named after the cat who used the barns as a hiding place before the building works, has been converted from a range of old barns, with a tiled floor, underfloor heating and a large open plan living/dining and kitchen space, which leads directly to a delightful patio garden via the French doors from the living area. You will find this especially handy if you are bringing your pet on holiday as it is fully enclosed. Upstairs is the family bathroom and a bedroom with a kingsize bed and TV, and a twin bedroom which can also be made up with the zip and link option to another kingsize bed. The cottages are just 3 miles from the pretty seaside town of New Quay, where the houses cling to the rocks above the harbour which, overlooks the beautiful Cardigan Bay. Here, you will find an array of little shops, cafés and restaurants and of course, being by the seaside, fish and chips and an ice cream parlour! Take a stroll down to the harbour and sit on the wall and look out for bottlenose dolphins – they are almost daily visitors to these parts. You can take a boat trip if you want to try and see them and lots of other fascinating wildlife including porpoises and Atlantic grey seals. The beaches are long, soft and sandy, so kick off your shoes and take a walk or have a go at crab fishing. There are four lovely beaches in New Quay and there are dog friendly ones all year round, if you are bringing your four legged friend on holiday with you. There are numerous other beautiful coves to discover within a short drive and if you feel energetic there is 60 miles of coastal path to explore on foot in Ceredigion. Do make sure you visit Llangrannog, Cwmtydu, Tresaith and Penbryn and the larger towns of Cardigan and Aberystwyth, as well as the Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron. There’s castles and culture, seaside and salty air, and wildlife and wilderness all waiting for you here. Whichever cottage you choose, there are lovely walks from the cottages and a designated cycle route is adjacent to the grounds. The owners, who also live on site, will make you feel very welcome and tell you about the area and if the chickens are laying, will provide you with fresh eggs too! You will also be more than welcome to visit the chickens and help feed them. Beach 3½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles. Rainbow Cottage (UK6575) can be booked together with Ty Ceiniog (UK6576) to accommodate up to 8 guests. Free WiFi
