With fell views, a log burning fire, and original features throughout, this is the perfect base for your Lake District escape. 🏠 Rich History & Unique Charm Originally two separate cottages, Bluebell Cottage has been thoughtfully combined into one generous home, offering plenty of room to spread out – a rare find for Ambleside. Once the staff quarters for the neighbouring manor house, the cottage still retains its heritage, with wooden beamed ceilings and original charm throughout. Bluebell Cottage is located on a quiet road just above the village, peaceful but also very convenient to easily walk into the heart of bustling Ambleside or stroll down to Windermere Lake. 🛋️ A rare find in Ambleside - a spacious home-from-home for groups of six. The heart of the home is a large, open-plan sitting and dining room with stunning views over the fells, a cosy wood-burning stove, and comfy seating. This space is perfect for relaxing together after a day exploring the lakes. At one end of the room, you’ll find a dining table, ideal for evening meals and games nights. The separate kitchen also features a breakfast table, so your group can spread out or enjoy a relaxed morning coffee before heading out. The entrance Boot Room provides generous space for walking gear and muddy boots, ideal for hikers, cyclists, and outdoor gear. 🛏️ Comfortable Accommodation with three bedrooms and two bathrooms Upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms: • A king-sized primary bedroom with views across the fells • A cosy double bedroom looking into the garden courtyard and to the hills behind the cottage • A twin room – perfect for kids or friends sharing that has lovely views of the old courtyard garden There are two bathrooms – a family bathroom with a bath and shower, and a large second bathroom with a shower enclosure. Egyptian cotton bath and hand towels are provided, along with essential toiletries including hand soap, shampoo, and conditioner to make your stay as comfortable as possible. 🌿 Outdoor Space & Amenities At the front of the cottage, enjoy a shared grassy area with outdoor seating and incredible views of the surrounding fells. To the rear is a private courtyard area with a dedicated patio and a shared enclosed garden – perfect for enjoying a glass of wine after a walk. A small outbuilding at the back houses the tumble dryer, and there’s central heating and double glazing throughout for year-round warmth. You’ll have a dedicated parking space (signed “No.1”) opposite the cottage, also a rarity in Ambleside, with extra on-street parking available nearby. 📍 Incredible Central Location Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Bluebell Cottage is just a 10-minute walk from Lake Windermere and Windermere Lake Cruises, with sailings to Wray Castle, Bowness, and Lakeside for the Aquarium and steam train. The centre of Ambleside village is a short 2 minute stroll away, with cosy pubs, fantastic restaurants, local shops, cafes, cinemas, and cycle hire all on hand. You’ll find some of the Lake District’s best walks right from the front door, so once you arrive, you can truly relax and explore without needing the car. If you do come with a car, you're based in one of the most central spots to explore all that the Lake District has to offer! Whether you’re a group of friends, a family with older kids, or three couples holidaying together, Bluebell Cottage offers the space, comfort and location for a memorable Lake District holiday. Guest access Guests have full access to the entire cottage, including the spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and entrance boot room. Outside, you can enjoy the front grassy seating area with stunning views, as well as the rear patio and shared enclosed garden. Self check-in is available via a secure key box, so you can arrive at your convenience. Parking is provided in a dedicated space marked “No. 1” opposite the property. Other things to note Bluebell Cottage is our family’s home-from-home, and we’re delighted to share it when we’re not there. We hope you’ll find it as cosy, homely and well-equipped as we do — a comfortable base for your Lake District adventures. While we don’t generally allow dogs, our family dog does occasionally stay at the cottage, so please bear this in mind if you have allergies. The cottage is located on a quiet residential street just above Ambleside village, with easy car access and dedicated parking. The garden areas are shared with neighbouring cottages, and we kindly ask guests to respect quiet hours. Towels, bed linen, and essential toiletries are provided.
