Accommodating up to 2 people, the property is part of a 14-acre wellness retreat, bordering a lagoon and river and within a short walk from the quiet beach. The space This cozy Cottage sits within an Ayurveda Wellness Retreat & Farm Stay bordering a lagoon with the estuary just a few minutes by boat or foot. The secluded and quiet local beach which is used by many local fishermen is just a short walk away - a lovely place to start and end your day. We had a lot of fun building this cottage, and it seems the vibes have been retained. The unit consists of one large bedroom for 3 guests, an open-format dining and living space, along with a rooftop area with a fabulous view of the surroundings. The unique feature of the cottage is the plunge pool…a new dimension to our preoccupation with fun bathing spaces. We share these beautiful 14 acres with peacocks and countless other birds, as part of the land is reforested with over 100 trees planted to date. The rest of the land is reverted to a dry zone farm. Our orchard with nearly over 40 varieties provides most of the fruits and vegetables we serve our guests. Our organic farm supplies much of the delicious and nutritious local vegetables we serve for meals. We have also started a butterfly garden, creating flower-, fragrance-, and joy-filled patches around the land. Welcome to paradise! The eco-retreat's bungalows, cottages, and villas are designed to maximize interaction with the outdoors while maintaining individual privacy. Enjoy windows you can open out into vast tropical gardens, sitting out on the patio enjoying the sounds of nature and the fresh air. The Wellness Retreat & Fam Stay has 11 rooms in various accommodation units for around 30 adults. All rooms have attached bathrooms with hot water and are equipped with mosquito nets. The units can be booked together or separately. We have now expanded the facilities with a yoga shala, a sea-sand restaurant, and a lovely outdoor swimming pool, thus making it an ideal retreat, also for yoga groups, meditation & Ayurveda retreats, corporate training, or family get-togethers. Set by a green lawn that rolls down to the scrub and pasture, the cottage is ideal for relaxed couples or small families and those who love to watch peacocks strutting around open lawns. * We supply our energy using solar power * We harvest rainwater. * We plant trees to offset our carbon footprint * Our property is a safe haven for wildlife, including native birds, butterflies, & bees * We are strictly against single-use plastics * We provide fresh filtered water that is safe to drink This property is called Back of Beyond Wellness Retreat. Guest access Guest will have access to the entire 14 acre property, the common lobby, living area and restaurant, the swimming pool, kayaks, bicycles etc. Guests can also walk around and enjoy our farm with an organic fruit and vegetable garden and butterfly garden. You are welcome to do a bit of farming yourself with the help of our committed local farmer Siripala who tents to his vege patches daily. Peacocks roam freely around the property and our garden is a haven for many species of birds and butterflies. Other things to note * This property is called Back of Beyond Wellness Retreat. Please be kind enough to take back any disposable plastic you bring with you, as we do not have easy access to a plastic recycling centre. Fresh filtered water is provided in your cottage as well as in the common areas for you to fill up your reusable water bottles. * Preserving the natural environment is important to us. We have retained the natural topography and vegetation that is unique to each property, and have avoided clearing land when building our lodges. We have tried to use modern methods of environmental construction and consistently practice sustainable energy use. * Back of Beyond properties leave a major proportion of the land untouched, or rejuvenated as a wild habitat where needed. We are discovering how critical these ‘wild pockets’ are as refuges for wildlife, as man increasingly takes control of the natural landscape - even in the most remote areas. Please note that it is best to observe any wildlife silently with minimal disturbance to their natural activities. * By making the reservation, guests have acknowledged and accepted that they are entering a wildlife area, staying in an unfenced property, and that their stay / tours conducted might take or bring them into contact or vicinity of wild animals (including snakes, spiders, etc.). Back of Beyond staff members, associates and/or agents cannot be held liable for any encounters involving the behavior of wild animals. We also have 3 pet dogs. Thus, the stay and entry into the wildlife area and Back of Beyond property is at your own risk and responsibility.
