Description
The Times featured us! Sappington Granary is a secluded, romantic hideaway in pretty Kent countryside. This 200yr-old wooden farm building has been updated, but retains its unusual charm. Delightfully & individually decorated, it is one of a kind. Inside it is snug & romantic. Perfect for little breaks, peacefully isolated but still close to Canterbury and beaches. Walk in nearby woods, the local valleys or even (if very energetic) to the pub, it is the perfect couples' break. The space Sappington Granary used to be a grain store, and we thought you'd like to continue the tradition by making your own bread with the breadmaker and flour provided. Lying in bed, you can see the original 200 year old beams all around you, and look at the traditional stencilled grain sacks stacked over the warm and welcoming 21st century shower room. There are stencilled bags to match, so you can buy a souvenir of your happy stay in this delightful Kentish granary. A granary is an historic grain store raised up on "staddle stones" to keep the grain dry and away from predators. It is therefore up several steps, so is not wheelchair friendly. Once inside, though, everything is on the same level, with just a small step into the shower. Unfortunately, we cannot welcome pets, and it is not suitable for babies old enough to crawl/walk, or children. Please note that the TV is internet-only, but there are lots of games and books. The Granary is carefully and thoroughly cleaned before your stay. Guest access The granary is entirely yours, plus there is a private garden outside, with a cookstove in the summer and seating. Inside there is internet-only TV so your "Netflix and chill" is guaranteed.... there's also a Bluetooth wireless speaker to link up your Spotify favourites, a DAB radio plus phone chargers just in case you've forgotten yours. Outside you can watch our amazing sunsets from the balcony or the loungers on the lawn near the barbecue. Want to go for a walk in the bluebell woods? If you're keen on eating outdoors, there's a picnic set too... How about a bit of wild swimming or a visit to one of Kent's beautiful beaches? there are beach towels and a rug begging to be used, and biscuits to keep out the cold! Other things to note We hope you will be happy in this newly converted, beautiful historic building. It really is a perfect secret hideaway. Creative guests tell me it is an inspiring place to work, plus there is a perfect wall for those Teams meetings, so who’s to know that you’re away for a few days?
