The ramparts of the Old town of Ulcinj rise directly from the sea. According to the legend in the end of the XVI century Spanish writer Miguel DE Cervantes was a slave in Ulcinj. The beaches in Ulcinj are numerous and unique - sandy and rocky beaches. The longest sandy beach in Montenegro – Velika Plaza that is about 13 km long. At the Southern end of this 13 km - long beach there is Ada Bojana , a triangular island with very nice beaches , formed where the Bojana river meets the Adriatic Sea. The long beach and the island are favorite sports for kite-surfers and windsurfers and it has a large a nudist beach for those so inclined.
