This cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway, bike trip with friends, or visits with family close by. The huge field adjoining the cottage is great for your pups to run, providing they are well trained and come when you call. The cottage has ac, but the altitude provides cool natural air conditioning in the hottest part of the summer, so bring a lightweight jacket for nights. There is a full kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, basic spices and oil to prepare meals, and a grocery store fifteen minutes away at the foot of Bent mountain. You should go before arriving. There is a TV at the cottage and we have wireless internet. I also have cards and board games. We are centrally located between Floyd (Floydfest) and Roanoke, both rich in culture, local art, music, vineyards, and breweries. Also, minutes from Silverhearth Lodge, a popular wedding venue in this area. Take a drive to Floyd for lunch after a wine tasting at Amrhein's winery located in the heart of the Blue Ridge wine district just minutes from the cottage. Other wineries include Valhalla (beautiful views of Roanoke), Chateau Morrisette, and Villa Appalachia. There are too many local breweries to list, but they are all tasty. Roanoke is just a short ride down the mountain or a scenic drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway, offering plenty of overlooks, hikes, and picnic spots. To get a bird's eye view of the Roanoke Valley, visit the Mill Mountain Star. Once you get to Roanoke, check out the wonderful restaurants, museums, and the Mill Mountain Theater. Black Dog Salvage (Salvage Dogs) offers an array of shops featuring artisan made goods and re-purposed and salvaged antiques. After shopping, take a leisurely stroll by the river on the green way and stop in for a bite to eat at the Wasena Tap Room or the Green Goat. Both are located in the green way. Guests have their own driveway and parking space beside the cottage for easy loading and unloading. We have a keyless entry, and you will receive the code upon booking. Please note that this is a guest cottage across the driveway from my home. You cannot see my house from the private deck, so you still have privacy. I give guests their privacy. I try to say hello when you arrive if I'm home but many times I'm not. Feel free to come over and say hello. I'm available for any questions. Simply leave the cottage unlocked when you leave . We are located on a quiet, paved country road that is a short bike ride to the Blue Ridge parkway. It is country living minutes from the city! It is safe to walk or ride bikes around the area. The cottage is beside my house but very private. The deck is on the back of the cottage away from the main house. Roanoke offers cab service and Uber. Roanoke regional airport is 30 minutes away. This is also a bike friendly area. We have apple, peach, pear, fig, and plum trees. Also, berry bushes surround the property. Help yourself with any vegetables or fruits in season on the property. My land goes up the hill and to the right following the fence line. Please respect the boundaries of my neighbors and don't wander into the woods on someone else's property. Hiking trails are all along the parkway, and brochures with trailheads are in the cottage. I recommend Bottom Creek Gorge 10 minutes away, Dragons Tooth and Mcafees Knob 35 minutes away in Catawba and the Buffalo in Floyd, also 30 minutes away. I offer massage therapy.
