Angus Cottage at Ferret Farm
Description
Situated on the Heysen Trail, a 15 minute drive from the seaside resort town of Victor Harbor, our "bespoke" carbon neutral cottage offers a quiet retreat from daily cares and frenetic activity. A private afternoon deck; sunny morning courtyard; secluded water-garden nook; and forest walks with stunning views among the abundant wildlife, are yours to enjoy. The space The cottage is adjacent to the main house and consists of one upstairs bedroom, with living area and bathroom downstairs. It should be noted that for reasons of comfort and privacy, the cottage is best suited for two people, unless part of a family group. There is a sofa bed in the living area that is available, however, it takes up a substantial part of the room. I suggest that prospective guests examine the photos and make their own judgement about suitability. If more than two people are comfortable with the arrangements, we are happy to accommodate them. Guest access The cottage is a separate building with its own access. It is situated adjacent to the main house at the end of a 500 metre driveway (farm track), which may not be suitable for vehicles with lowered suspension. Other things to note Whilst the cottage fits best into the category of “self contained” and there are facilities for preparing beverages and snacks, there is no cook top or oven because more elaborate cooking (eg frying) is not appropriate for the living area. There is however a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, sandwich maker, BBQ, coffee plunger, espresso machine, and crockery, glasses etc. We provide the ingredients for "continental breakfasts": fruit juice, homemade bread, cereal, fresh fruit, milk, yogurt, condiments and beverages. Check-in and out times may be negotiable according to circumstance. Be aware that the farm is self sufficient in power and (rain) water. Consequently we appreciate a frugal approach to the consumption of these resources. Please turn off appliances and lights if not needed and be mindful of the length of your showers. Like all rural properties Ferret Farm is subject to the risk of wild fire during the summer months. Consequently, all guests should avoid using naked flames or any other source of combustion when venturing beyond the garden. They should also be prepared to leave at short notice in the event of an approaching fire.
