Home in Arvonia

Our place is close to Scottsville, the James River, and Yogaville. You’ll love it's peacefulness, beautiful forest, and access to the Slate River. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, artists, yogis, hunters, families, groups, and furry friends (pets). Trails run through the property for wandering. Enjoy the stars, wildlife, or paddle up or down the Slate (4-5 miles to the James River at New Canton) The space This little getaway is a simple and humble hide away perfect for someone looking to get away from it all in a very rural part of Virginia. The house sits on 4.5 acres of forest with access to the Slate River. House sleeps 6, but more could stay if they wanted to camp. Please note there is only 1 full size bed in the master bedroom and the other 2 bedrooms have 1 queen size foam floor mattress and 1 twin size bed. We have an air mattress and extra linens if you need to sleep more than 5. This is a no frills home where we spend weekends away to enjoy nature and the outdoors. The house is at the top of the hill with river access at the bottom. There is no cable, but there is a smart TV for Netflix watching and a DVD player. Please note, there is not great cell service here, but we do have WiFi (not super fast!). However, you'll probably be outside playing in the river or viewing the stars at night while gathered around the fire. Guest access We do not live at the house, so you'll have complete privacy! Guests have access to the house and the whole 4.5 acres. There are trails and an area along the Slate River with a fire pit and covered shelter. Guests are welcome to use the stair access to the river. The neighbors property is within site, but guests are not allowed to trespass. The property line is clearly marked and there is a property map in the house. Other things to note If you have AWD or 4WD, you can drive down the short, but steep driveway down to the river from the house. If not, you can walk down the set of steps or the driveway. Limited cell phone service, but there is WiFi. Internet is slower in the country, which means no internet gaming, zoom, etc. Streaming Netflix and general internet use is good though! For those with pet allergies, please note that we have a cat that sometimes stays out there with us, but not when you will be there. There have also been dogs in the home with guests.
