Our charming chocolate-box thatched cottage with a pretty garden, is rated 4* Visit England. Set on our working beef farm in a peaceful, secluded spot. Comfortably sleeping 4, it’s perfect for couples, friends, or families—and pet friendly too. Just 10 minutes from the breathtaking Jurassic Coastline, West Bay harbour, and the South West Coast Path. Explore nearby Bridport’s vibrant street market, hunt for fossils at Charmouth, or enjoy the seaside charm and sunsets of Lyme Regis and Weymouth. The space Strongate Cottage is full of character and charm, set on our small working farm in the village of Salway Ash, just a 10-minute drive north of Bridport. Access is via a long, winding lane shared with only two other farms—so there’s no passing traffic, ensuring peace and privacy. Set in a beautiful rural location, the Cottage offers a tranquil escape with a pretty garden and spring water. The open-plan galley kitchen steps down to a cosy lounge, with direct access to the lovely garden exclusively for your use. Wooden garden furniture is provided for relaxing outdoors. Upstairs, two bedrooms await: one double and one twin, along with a bathroom featuring a shower attachment over the bath. The farm is home to beef cattle, sheep, ducks, geese, and rescue chickens, making it a wonderful setting for children and families to explore. We welcome dogs (small additional charge) A travel cot and highchair are available and free WiFi Dorset offers so much to explore—from charming villages and traditional pubs to the breathtaking Jurassic Coastline, perfect for coastal walks. Fossil hunting at Charmouth is a short drive away, while the seaside town of Weymouth is 25 minutes by car. Lyme Regis, the “Pearl of Dorset,” combines stunning scenery with a vibrant town, making it a must-visit destination. Guest access The Cottage and pretty garden are exclusively for your use, with an additional open grassy area nearby that you are also welcome to enjoy. Bridport (4 miles) is famous for its twice weekly street market and thriving vintage quarter. The harbour of West Bay is situated on the Jurassic coastline which has World Heritage status. For the fossil hunter the coastline at Charmouth & Lyme Regis are a 20 minute drive away. Local wine tasting tours available at Furleigh Estate and a cider tour & tasting session at Dorset Nectar, an organic cider farm, highly recommended. Our nearest beach is West Bay, 3 miles away, or Eype. For those seeking a flat and very sandy beach then Weymouth is well worth a visit Delightful Dorset pubs await you and West Dorset is also full of footpaths for every type of walker & cyclist. Other things to note Mobile signal can be patchy depending on your network, however we have good Wifi which is free of charge. The farm has spring water and please no smoking within the Cottage, please also note no BBQ's in the garden either due to our thatched roof
