Description

The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario is pleased to offer the rare opportunity for guests to sleep in a caboose for an authentic railroader experience. This is our 1967 Canadian National Caboose. This is a 'run-through' style of caboose - a more modern, industrial design and is made of steel, rather than wood. Curl up in our comfortable beds, new mattresses, fresh linens and relax in the quiet glow of the lantern. *Please note this is not a hotel but a unique glamping experience. The space The inside of the Caboose is outfitted with electricity, wired lighting and an air conditioner, yet still has the original layout. This includes three beds, an elevated look-out called a "cupola", a dinette and a former kitchenette. The photos on the walls are of local railway workers of the past and are from our own collection. Steps from the caboose, our guests can access our museum station with a newly updated kitchenette including a sink, fridge and microwave, toaster, kettle, and Nespresso machine. Two bathrooms inside the station feature a newly tiled shower and include shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Guests will also have access to our Baggage Room which features an 8 seating dining table, smart tv, and train and lego tables for the kids to enjoy. Plenty of additional picnic tables and benches are available on the covered Breezeway porch and the grounds. NOTE: This caboose is more than 50 years old, was a working rail car for 30 years and is considered an artifact of the museum. Although it is thoroughly cleaned, restored and repainted, each caboose should be expected to have unique imperfections. Guest access The main part of our museum will be locked up for the night at 5:15 pm but the kitchenette, bathrooms and and Baggage Room common area will remain open to our guests for the evening. Guests are welcome to explore the museum property and grounds after we have closed.
