It is the home of the Wellemi Pine. This 'living fossil', first discovered in 1994, is the closest surviving relative of species which date back 150 million years. -- Ferntree Gully Ferntree Gully is a highly scenic rain forest area 17 kilometres north of Rylstone which has been furnished with walkways and lookouts.
