Description
The Astralship is based in a 200 year old chapel, where the mountains of Snowdonia meet the sea. The chapel dates from 1838 and is located in an unbelievably beautiful area, with endless mountains, beaches and quarries to explore. It's the perfect place to be if you like hiking, climbing and wild swimming. ** WE ARE PET FRIENDLY ** We have 2 resident cats that don’t mind dogs and would love for guests to bring their pets along. The space Our rooms, or “cabins” as we call them, are small and cosy. All of the building have been done by ourselves and the chapel is a very dynamic site. Unfortunately due to COVID there is no guest access to our main kitchen, however we have set up a small kitchen area just for airbnb guests to use with all the basic amenities (kettle, toaster, hot plate, pots, pans etc.) Self-service breakfast is provided and vegetarian/vegan meals are available for an extra fee. There is a shared toilet for airbnb guests and a communal shower. A space in the office is available for an extra £5 a day. The chapel itself is constantly evolving and we have tried to keep the original charm of the place going as we make changes. We have a small library that guests are welcome to enjoy, as well as a workshop with a diverse range of tools and resources. Outside we have multiple raised beds where we grow various vegetables such as pok choi, spinach and tomatoes. The chapel has been developed as a communal space to work on projects that will have a positive impact on the world. We are a supportive, collaborative and creative community that benefits from sharing a wide range of skills and ideas. We welcome people from all different backgrounds at the Astralship and we love the opportunity to learn, informally sharing languages and cultural practices where possible. For more information about the project, check out the Astralship website. Guest access There is parking outside the chapel that is available for free to guests. There is a bus that will bring you to Llanberis in one direction or Bangor in the other. During your stay We are both busy working on our projects but we are mostly on site and available for our guests. Other things to note We are happy for airbnb guests to interact with us as much as they would like. We have guests who make their own plans and only show up to sleep, while others want to get involved in what we do and learn more. We’re happy to accommodate any type of guest. PLEASE NOTE: Though we try our best to keep the space clean, it is an old chapel in a rural location, so there are spiders, dust etc. The space has been built up over time by many different people, and while it is safe, it is important to note that things can creek and wobble. Our chapel is an ongoing renovation project, with constructions often happening. It is a communal space with people coming and going, and though we provide hand sanitiser and social distance where possible, it is not the best place for those who are medically vulnerable.
