Your nest in the mountains

In a tiny mountain village, you can take refuge in this old barn, tastefully renovated and fully equipped. You will be in a quiet area, with a splendid view of the Canigou, a wood-burning stove for the winter, a nice enclosed courtyard to have your meals and rest. Hikes start right at the door of the house. Nearby: thermal waters, cultural events (music, cinema), skiing, historical sites, wines, gastronomy and especially nature... The space The Grange d'Oreilla, as its name suggests, is an old barn fully furnished with natural materials (stone, wood, lime) and equipped with all modern comforts. The house consists of a single open space (except the bathroom, of course) on two levels. The kitchen, which overlooks the courtyard, is well stocked with dishes (including wine glasses and carafe!) and appliances (fridge with small freezer; dishwasher; microwave and efficient electric oven; glass-ceramic stove with hood; electric coffee maker, kettle and toaster; iron; large water heater for hot water). At the bottom, under the mezzanine, the living room extends the same space and its intimate side makes you want to laze around after a good hike or watch (a little!) TV if the weather gets bad. It consists of a sofa and a convertible armchair, as well as a rocking chair. The bathroom occupies the remaining space under the mezzanine. Small, but quite convenient with its walk-in shower, and very cute, it is heated with electricity. A beautiful wooden staircase leads you to the bedroom on the mezzanine (be careful, it is only separated from the rest of the accommodation by a railing, the space is open). In the large bed, you can sleep with your head in the stars, because the large windows offer stunning views of Mount Canigou, the sacred mountain of the Catalans, but also of Mount Coronat, the Tres Esteles and so on. A table with two seats allows you to write or work on the computer facing these wonders (for me, it is the biggest attraction of the house, but to each their own). An armchair, convertible into a bed, can accommodate your poetic meditations or your child for the night. In the courtyard with stone walls and slate tiled floor, a large table with parasol and chairs are ready for an aperitif on the way back from a hike. The barbecue allows you to stay outside for the meal, and the sun lounger invites you to read or take a nap. (Please note: my terrace overlooks this courtyard, but I only use it to pass through when you are there.) La Grange d'Oreilla is the ideal refuge for nature lovers looking for calm. Guest access You will enter through the large double door that opens onto the courtyard and you will be at home. The barn and courtyard are entirely reserved for you, and the entrance is private. My house and terrace overlook the courtyard, which can interfere with your privacy when I go out on the terrace, but I stay there as little as possible and only pass through when you are there. From time to time, I go down to "your" courtyard to access the cellar, but I always make sure not to disturb you and to do so when you are not there. The washing machine of the house is in this cellar and you can have access to it on request. Indeed, the gîte does not have one. Other things to note Be sure to shop before you arrive, as there are absolutely no shops in the village. In Prades, you will find everything. Olette offers two bakeries, a well-stocked Proxy with reasonable prices, a welcoming bar with catering options and a repair restaurant. To lock the front door of the house, gently lift the handle all the way to the right before turning the key (it is sometimes a little hard). Before leaving the bathroom, check that the toilet flush is not running. PRESS the push button TWICE. With the noise of the extractor, you can't hear the water flowing. Thank you for your time. The house does not have a washing machine (due to a miscalculation in the design of the staircase!). If you need to wash laundry, let me know and I will give you access to my washing machine (€5 per 8 kg machine, including soap). The house will be left in the state of cleanliness in which you found it. Cleaning is therefore your responsibility before your departure, unless you want us to take care of it (€50). We no longer provide sheets and towels, except on request and with an additional €10 per person or €15 for a couple in the large bed. Dogs are allowed (if possible small and in any case well behaved), but we ask for a deposit of €50, which will be returned to you upon departure if the accommodation is clean (without hair) and nothing has been damaged.
