Cottage Pye - Beautiful Barn In The New Forest

Robert & Claire welcome you to Cottage Pye - a lovely renovated barn on the edge of the New Forest, which is renowned for its wild ponies & scenery. Located on our family farm within an idyllic courtyard of converted barns, beautifully decorated & furnished to a high standard. Accommodating between 6-8 guests + infants. Situated within the charming Hampshire countryside close to historic Romsey, Salisbury & Winchester, there are plenty of places to visit. 10 MINUTE DRIVE TO PEPPER PIG WORLD. The space SHORTER STAYS (3 nights minimum) ACCEPTED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS (from November until April). We are a family run cattle and sheep farm, explore the farm during your stay - guests can get involved in lambing and feed lambs at lambing time (April/May only). Swim in our indoor heated SWIMMING POOL & relax and unwind in our wooden SAUNA - the sauna is coin operated and use of the pool & sauna is shared with the cottages and huts on site, but you can book private, hourly swimming sessions in the pool/sauna when you arrive. We also have a PLAY PARK on the farm with a real tractor, swings and a slide! If you enjoy fishing, we have a well stocked course fishing lake on the farm (own equipment and license needed). The ground floor of Cottage Pye comprises of a spacious open plan living area, which includes a bespoke kitchen with dishwasher, integrated fridge freezer, oven, hob & microwave, a large farmhouse dining table that seats 8 and a cosy living room with three comfortable sofas. A bedroom with double bed is also found on the ground floor and is equipped with an en-suite bathroom with a generous walk in 'rainfall' shower. The master bedroom is located upstairs and has an impressive king-size bed, a daybed that can sleep 1 to 2 guests (please note, if you are a booking with 6 or less guests, then there will be an extra charge for making up the day bed if required), an en-suite shower bathroom and two substantial Velux windows looking out onto the courtyard and farm beyond. The third bedroom is also upstairs and has two single beds and a daybed that sleeps 1 to 2 guests (please note, if you are a booking with 6 or less guests, then there will be an extra charge for making up the day bed if required). This room also has a large Velux window with views across the courtyard and farm. Outside there is a large patio area (which is shared with the cottage next door) but you have your own rattan table and chairs that seats 6 as well as a garden parasol. There is also a communal courtyard, grass gardens and plenty of fields to play in nearby. There is a communal laundry room (it is shared with the five other barns) which is stocked with DVDs and games as well as leaflets and ideas of things to do and places to see in the area. The laundry room has a washing machine and a tumble dryer that are coin operated. You have exclusive use of the entire barn and outdoor patio seating. - Private, hourly swimming sessions in the swimming pool are bookable when you arrive (the timetable is on the swimming pool door 1-2 days in advance, just put your name/cottage next to the time slot you would like). - We guarantee each cottage one, one hour slot per day, further slots might be available once the guests staying in the other cottages have had a chance to book. - The pool is open from 9am until 6pm in winter months and from 9am until 8pm in the summer months. - You will need to bring your own towels for use in the pool, as we do not provide these. Guest access Being on the edge of the New Forest there are lots of walks and places to be explored! The nearest train stations are Romsey, Southampton Central or Salisbury. Bringing a car is recommended to explore the best places. There is a dedicated parking area adjacent to the courtyard. Please let us know if you are bringing more than two cars, because we only have a finite number of parking spaces per cottage. Other things to note Cottage Pye is self catering accommodation and so we provide the following essentials to get you going; salt and pepper, cooking oil, washing up liquid, cleaning spray, oven gloves & two tea towels, a few dishwasher tablets, bedding and one bath towel per person. In each bathroom there is one bar of locally made goat milk soap, one hand towel, one bath matt & one toilet roll. We are a working farm and so we have friendly, working farm dogs called Skip, Bryn and Doug who roam the farm and sometimes the courtyard where the cottages are. The gates to the courtyard can be closed if you do not wish the dogs to be in there. We also have a two shepherd's huts located on our lake & river for smaller groups (2 adults plus infant), as well as Bramble Pye which is another beautiful barn conversion (sleeping 6-8 adults plus infants), and also four other cottages available for stays, please see our website 'pyesmead farm' for more info or visit us on insta; pyes_holiday_cottages Takeaways unfortunately don't deliver to us, but you can have supermarket deliveries. There is a local shop close by, as well as a farm shop selling groceries, locally produced meats, bread and cakes. If you don't fancy cooking the local shop sells ‘cook’ high quality frozen meals which are designed to be just like homemade food. If you fancy eating out there is a great selection of pubs and restaurants nearby, the ones we recommend are listed the guidebook on Air BnB as well as in the welcome folder in the barn.
