Description
Where the kites whistle... The Elephant House has long since shed its winter coat. Tired city dwellers find a special respite here in one of the most secluded spots in Toggenburg. The fruit and vegetable garden boasts many healthy homegrown produce. It`s own spring water, nesting sites for birds, and a nearby stream ensure charm and a loving environment. A dream for migratory birds and nature lovers. Take a look at the photos. The house offers vegan and vegetarian cuisine. The space The location of the house is a dream for nature lovers. Absolute forest peace, permeated by the whistling of kites and other birds of prey. There is no road junction and therefore no annoying traffic noises, the hiking trail is only accessible to my house, preferably with a 4x4. If you like hiking, meditating, writing a book, skiing, or just like being in the garden, relaxing or unwinding in the hammock, you won't miss anything here. If you want to drive to the house, you can easily park below the house. The Elephant House is surrounded by countless hiking and cycling trails, which are very well developed and, due to the different altitudes, offer an overview of the varied landscape, which changes quickly as you climb up and down. For the sporty, there are two racing bikes and two mountain bikes in the house, as well as two pairs of snowshoes and skis for downhill and cross-country skiing. You can get to the house with cross-country skis. Winter up here is fantastic and snow guaranteed. The small reading library in the large guest roomwith a philosophical reading corner replaces even the best television programs on bad weather days, and the mountain view over the nature reserve and the "rolling hills" to Säntis from the guest rooms is a green (or white in winter) feast for the eyes . For your comfort, deck chairs and shady and sunny seating are available in the garden. And: The elephant house sets standards. I cook vegan or, if desired, vegetarian. So that you don't have to leave this paradisiacal island, I cook for you and prepare a wonderful breakfast with everything that goes with it: pressed juices, homemade jams and homemade bread with and without gluten, preserved or fresh fruit, berries, cherries or pears according to the season, everything from our own organic cultivation. Dinner is particularly delicious, vegetables and crisp salads from the garden depending on the season, with chia, couscous, quinoa, potatoes or rice or pasta dishes. The sweet dessert again is a creation from the berry garden. Guest access Skis, snowshoes and bicycles are available in the house, and of course you can enjoy the garden in all directions to your heart's content. The area is snow-safe and a beautiful cooling space in summers. Bicycles, skis, fruits and vegetables, homemade fruit wine and homemade breads are generally available at an additional cost. There is usually also in-house apple cider or berry wine, which can be bought in bottles. A wide variety of home made jams is also for sale. All fruits are organically grown. As already mentioned, I would be happy to make breakfast and vegan or vegetarian dinner for you upon previous announcement and extra charge. Our water is healthy and comes from two on-site natural springs belonging to the house. If you like to cook yourself, you are welcome to use the kitchen and refrigerator and I am happy to help with fresh vegetables and salads from own cultivation. There is a refrigerator space for storing food. Fresh salads are inexpensive, delicious and healthy! Bon appetite! Guests are free to move around the house with the exception of my personal rooms. Other things to note I have two adorable, cool cats, each sociable and cuddly in his own way... and one of them is very greedy! There's a kind of circular ecosystem between the house and the garden, which guarantees 100% purity of both. This means that the spring water that flows into the house from the forest is returned to nature or the garden as pure water (without a purification system!, as there is no pollution); it flows out the same way it comes in. Amphibians such as alpine newts, frogs, and toads live in this wastewater basin, as well as many small creatures and insects that can also be found in the garden pond. The Elephant House is therefore not only vegan, but also detergent-, soap-, and shampoo-free! A unique project for the sake of the environment and the animals. Despite the supplies in the house, you are welcome to bring your own eco-friendly soap or shampoo. We are happy to help with that too.
