Rock Rest Eco-Cabin

Rock Rest Eco-Cabin was custom built by the owners in 2018. Dedicated to grandparents Ralph & Helen Trout who taught us to love and respect the mountains & nature that resides there. The goal was to create an original structure that combines modern lines with rustic textures. Rock Rest is a living art piece. We are excited to share it with you! The space The cabin utilizes reclaimed and locally sources material, plus cutting edge building technology to provide an experience that is convenient and comfortable. The cabin features above code insulation, high efficiency windows, modern building wrap, reclaimed 100 year old wood siding and locally sourced beams. We have a state of the art waste water treatment system that feeds the trees. The new water well provides us with fresh mountain water. And a tankless hot water heater . Inside and outside lighting is low watt. Future projects are a playhouse and a suspension bridge to rooftop patio. The kitchen is totally modern and fully stocked with everything you need to cook a wonderful meal for up to six guests. Custom concrete counter tops inlaid with polished stones and fossils compliment the stainless steel appliances, open shelving and oak stained cupboards. The bedroom stays extra warm with a six foot baseboard heater installed permanently behind the queen bed. A second twin XL daybed is suspended, accessed by ladder, directly below a long horizontal window overlooking the valley. Plenty of fun and fluffy linens guarantee a cozy stay on the coldest of winter nights. The bathroom is a perfectly clean and efficient space. The powder room has an oak vanity and mirror with a modern sink and lighting. The shower has a custom stainless steel surround with a polished river rock mosaic pan. The baseboard heater in the lav and our tankless hot water heater guarantees you can always enjoy a long hot shower. Our cozy living room has a Smart TV with Netflix, Bluetooth sound bar, HD DVD player, industrial and rustic furniture. There is a very comfy custom build twin XL daybed as well. The HUGE sliding glass door addresses the front porch with a twin XL swing and the beautiful forest surrounding it. Guest access Many guests say their favorite thing is having a hot cup of coffee in the enormous Twin XL daybed porch swing in the morning. The cabin sits on a 2 acre hillside in a park like setting treed with pines and aspens. The front porch overlooks our meadow where deer graze on a daily basis. The back balcony overlooks a neighboring farm below the Pikes Peak mountain range. We have seen deer, elk, bears, racoons, skunks, and mountain lions. You can often hear the neighboring wolves, at the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, howling early in the morning or late at night!! Other things to note The WIFI is HUghes net. It is Satellite based. A storm can affect it's performance. WIFI is not guaranteed Maximum 2 Dogs allowed. We are not charging a pet fee, however a tip for the cleaners is greatly appreciated. No cats allowed.
