Description
Onetai Estate is a quiet bush sanctuary set across 22 acres of private native bush, with the Coromandel State Forest Park unfolding as your backyard. Enjoy slow mornings, spa soaks beneath the stars, firelit outdoor spaces, a wood-fired pizza oven, BBQ, gardens, native tracks and glowworms after dusk. Just under 2 hours from Auckland and moments from Thames and Paeroa, Onetai welcomes up to 16 guests — a private retreat where forest, firelight, and stillness become your rhythm. The space Reflect | Ground | Contemplate The room is a quiet harbour, where the mind finds its still centre. Bathed in the soft, golden light of the valley’s descent, it invites a deep, inward gaze. Here, stretched in contemplation or held by a book’s embrace, the world’s great weight softens into mindful stillness. At the room’s heart rests a comfortable double bed — simple, spacious, and made for deep rest beneath the hush of the trees. A large closet offers room for your belongings, and the windows open onto native greenery, with morning birdsong often carrying through at first light. This sanctuary, anchored by the land itself, offers a profound sense of holding. A secondary haven — an optional extra bed — can also welcome a companion into this shared quiet, available by prior arrangement at an additional offering. Guests are welcome to enjoy the shared communal spaces of the house, along with the wider estate grounds — gardens, outdoor seating areas, and the gentle bush-edge calm that surrounds Onetai. Thoughtful amenities are provided — fresh towels, gentle lighting, and simple comforts. In winter, the estate is warmed by underfloor heating and lit fires, with blankets waiting in the lounge for slow evenings. In summer, Huritao remains cool and airy beneath the trees. Fast Wi-Fi is available throughout the estate, suitable for working, streaming, or video conferencing. Facilities for Your Pause- Bathing: The flow of water is thoughtfully shared in an ensuite sanctuary. Convenience: A powder room waits below, accessible to all guests. Free parking is available on-site, with an easy arrival and space to settle in gently. Huritao is often chosen for its warmth, quiet depth, and the feeling of being gently held by the land. Pause in Huritao: yield to thought, and embrace the art of being still. Guest access Guests have access to their private room, along with the shared communal spaces of the house — including the lounge and dining areas, designed for slow mornings and unhurried evenings. You are also warmly welcome to wander the wider estate grounds: gardens, outdoor seating corners, and the gentle bush-edge tracks that surround Onetai and invite quiet exploration. On-site parking is available, and having a vehicle is strongly recommended, as there is no public transport servicing the property. For guests staying three nights or more, airport transfers from Auckland, Hamilton, or Tauranga may be possible by prior arrangement (a koha toward fuel is appreciated). If you would like a local guide, or assistance with transport during your stay, this can also be arranged in advance. During your stay We respect our guests’ privacy and the quiet rhythm of the estate. We’re usually nearby and available if you need anything. The best way to reach us is through Airbnb messaging, and we respond quickly. After booking, you’ll receive our direct contact details in your arrival information. Warmly, Onetai Estate Other things to note Onetai Estate is a quiet sanctuary designed for rest, reflection, and connection with the land. It is best suited to guests seeking calm, nature, and unhurried space rather than late-night noise or party-style stays. Bathrooms at the estate are shared, and part of the Onetai experience is the gentle rhythm of co-existence — birdsong in the morning, stillness at night, and the presence of the bush close by. Onetai holds multiple rooms across the property, and we’re often able to welcome guests travelling together. If you are arriving as a group, seeking multiple rooms, or envisioning something larger — a retreat, celebration, or full-estate stay — we invite you to message us in advance so we can guide you toward the best arrangement. Please note that Onetai is not a party venue. Events or gatherings are only permitted when privately booked and agreed in advance. Additional offerings and full-estate stays may be available by prior arrangement.
