Mahlzow is a district of the ducal town of Wolgast directly on the Peenestrom and is still on the island of Usedom. The town is connected to Wolgast by the large bascule weighbridge. Special sights in the town include the town museum, the Rungehaus and the Mühlensteinpark. The harbour is the starting point for various boat trips, including to Usedom. Wolgast Zoo is home to over 300 animals of 40 different species. The facility also has petting zoos and a zoo school especially for younger guests, and Wolgast is also part of the European Route of Brick Gothic. Points of interest are the Gertruden Chapel and St Peter's Church. The highlight in Wolgast's old town is the regional weekly market with traders from the neighbourhood offering a variety of seasonal and fresh products directly from the region.
