Aalto Cottage - Bed and Breakfast!

Aalto Cottage is a self contained studio cottage situated in Lunawanna on Daniels Bay. This is the quiet, private area of Bruny Island but close to many walks and attractions on the Island. The cottage is near the family home but has many trees and shrubs to provide privacy for guests. We will only interact if you require some help. We are inclusive hosts and welcome people from all walks of life The space Our garden retreat offers a private space for couples or singles, complete with ample parking. Located on the beautiful South Island, it’s a 40-minute drive from the ferry. If you’re feeling adventurous, stop at the wonderful Bruny Island Honey Shop, Get Shucked Oyster Bar, or Cheese Factory on your way. As you drive south, take in the stunning views from the neck walkway overlooking Adventure Bay to the east and Simpsons Bay and the D’Entrecastreaux Channel to the west. Our continental breakfast includes bread, cereal, milk, homemade yoghurt with a homegrown berry sauce, juice, homemade jams, fruit, and tea and coffee facilities. Two good eating places are The Bruny Hotel - approx 6 km from the Cottage; (lunch and dinner daily.) and the Bruny Winery approx 2 km from the cottage. ( lunch daily, and dinner on Saturday night). We do suggest you ring ahead at both of these places to book for evening meals. Birdwatching is a popular hobby in our area, and we’ve spotted a variety of birds, including sea eagles, black cockatoos, swift parrots, silver eyes, wrens, honeyeaters, and many more. We also have many native visitors- wallabies, rabbits, paddy melons, echidnas and other cute critters. If you’re planning a week or two in Tasmania, we recommend getting a parks pass. It gives you access to all Tasmanian National Parks, including the iconic lighthouse and Cloudy Bay on Bruny Island. Guest access Aalto Cottage has a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. We also supply a Webber Baby Q BBQ for your use. A hair dryer and all linen is also provided. Guests are welcome to walk around our 5 acre property and enjoy the bird life in our native bushland to the back of our property. Cemetery Beach is only a short walk away and has stunning views over the D’enrecasteaux Channel down to Adamsons Peak and the Southern Ranges. The sunsets are beautiful from the beach, or across the road from the cottage. Other things to note Check-in 3:00 pm Check-out 10:00 am. Minimum of 1 night booking. Phone coverage will drop out (black spot areas) in some parts of the island. Petrol is only available at the Adventure Bay shop. A book is provided in the cottage on “things to do on Bruny” showing the walks, shops, restaurants in the area.
